Hello Everyone, Just a very quick hello to say we are now on the boat, had a long but enjoyable bus trip yesterday and arrived late last night. Spent the night on the boat and the day going into the markets and provisioning her. The boat is beautiful. We are heading out into the Kornati Island group which is very remote and very few,if any facilities so it might be a few days before we get a chance to do a big blog!!!. We have our crew caps courtesy of Lloyd, Angelic, Rubes and Phoebe as well as our special Pirate boarding party suit courtesy of Mick, Trace, Herb, Di & Laurie so we have most bases covered. We are also flying the aussie flag and listening to John Williamson!!! Catch you all soon. Lots of ... read more

Dobra Dan, (Hello) from Dubrovnik, Well at the moment it is 6.00pm on Thursday night, the 3rd of April. Sad to say the weather has taken a turn for the worst and it is a bit cold and rather wet outside, perfect hot chocolate weather for Debsy though so I guess every Croatian cloud has a calorie lining! Thought I would do a little blog update before we head north tomorrow and get on board our new home for the next 5 weeks, our yacht, ‘Paulina’. Not sure when we will get the opportunity again to say hello and let you know what we have been up to whilst we are sailing the Adriatic sea. Well after all of the excessive celebrations of our wedding anniversary it was time to let life settle down and after ... read more

There was a time when I was happy to touch down in a country with only a pack full of dirty clothes, a box full of wine, a smile and a willingness to sleep on the street. I would trust in the kindness of strangers and usually find myself in cheap, substandard accommodation. This style of travelling generally made for good stories, as it led to nights in mud huts, brothels and scary guesthouses; it also managed to get me onto a hijacked bus, get beat up in a bar in Singapore’s little India and be felt up by a Christian Fundamentalist on Australia’s East coast. Somewhere along the line I changed my ways and became obsessed with the most intricate details of my next trip. When I am not travelling I am planning to travel; ... read more

Saturday the 29th of March Goodbye to Germany and Hello to Croatia Well after a very memorable night in the home of Martin and Gisela it was time to get packing and get going off to Cologne. Cologne is a large city about 400 klms north, north west of Nurnberg and we had booked train tickets to get there from Nurnberg. The reason we are going to Cologne is that we had found relatively cheap airline tickets on the net from Cologne to Dubrovnik; in fact they were about a third of the next best price we could get from any other airline. We knew nothing about the airline called German wings except they started their flights very early, our flight out was at 5.45am!! Of interest was that we were advised that check ins commenced ... read more

Howdy Y'all, So I'm in Croatia, teaching at the American College of Management and Technology, in Dubrovnik. I've been here since the 14th of March, I am still in the process of settling in and finding a home for everthing in my apt. The location of my apt, is perfect I am a 15-20 min walk from School, old town is only another few minutes from there. I have 2 grocery stores less than 5 minutes Ston and Moli Ston, they produce the "best" oysters in the world, according to all of the locals. They were pretty darn goodand really don't care for raw oysters. Also it is the home to the 2nd longest wall in the world. Ok enough talking here are the pix. Ted... read more

This is THE place which is part of my soul and blood!! Here any traveller I know who came found it not only wonderful, but magical. I like meditating, walking with my dog, sit on the rocks on the beach, sit in the yoga posture and look at the sea, the sky, the green trees and get re energised. There is no time, no clock, just the nature connection. Have a look at the photos... read more

Our bus to Dubrovnik left Kotor at eight thirty and surprisingly we managed to get up for it. The bus was comfortable enough but we had a little bit of agro at the border. At the checkpoint to leave Montenegro there was a general shout down the bus, we heard something "Anglaiski" and we were beckoned off the bus. We were told to get our backpacks and follow the border guard into a room. They asked us where we had come from, where we were going and purpose of visit (as if our backpacks and stamps in our passports didn't spell it out.) They asked to see further I.D from Rob and then proceeded to ask him questions about his job, where he went to university etc. They looked at each other and then passed us ... read more

Well guys and gals, thanks for tuning in and reading our blog.....thanks for all the messages and the contact from back home...This is our final entry from our Eastern European trip and relates to our last couple of weeks in Croatia and Slovenia. We are now at home but thought we would finish the blog as part of our memories and to complete the story. Its actually pretty depressing writing it all as we sort of want to still be away....its wierd being home and not having to worry about our next place to stay, or buying in for the day or looking for dogs/randoms to avoid!! Croatia started as Montenegro finished, cracking scenery and coastal roads with mountains down to the sea, and all the towns had a "stari grad" (old town), walled, with narrow ... read more

So we spent the last couple days in Dubrovnik, the city is gorgeous but its sad that instead of the buisy hubub of markets and shipbuilding and things that the city used to take part in it is now only used as a tourist trap of sorts. Filled with stores selling crappy jewelery and overpriced walking tours, hotels, and bottels of wine. It was nice to see the old city with its walls and buildings and history, but I had the feeling of being herded like cattle thru the city. Im also a little bitter because we bought a box of lindor chocolates, for about as much as we would normally spend on a meal, and they had gone hard and white, though were before the best before date (by three days); we tried to take ... read more
