Marble Streets
The marvelous marble streets in Dubrovnik. Wow, it was almost 2 weeks ago now that we made it to Dubrovnik, Croatia that I can't really remember too much of it.
It was a long drive, about 8 hours with a short stop in Zagreb (the capital). In Zagreb we ate dinner and checked out a pub named Tolkien's House, which of course as you may guess was decorated in mainly a Lord of the Rings theme and shots named after places and characters from the story too.
But from there we then continued on our way south to Dubrovnik through windy coastal roads with beautiful views in the night until we made it to our destination at nearly 2AM. we spent the next day here, walking mostly and taking numerous photos of the glorious castle walls that surround the town and are built right into the cliff against the sea. I took so many photos... more than most places, but unfortunately my camera was later stolen and hence I lost them all. So the photos on this page are of lesser quality due to the fact they were taken by an amateur photographer (Hawkshaw). The cool thing about Dubrovnik was that you could walk along the
Yeehaa!!!
Riding the canon. top of the city walls all the way around the town and get an excellent view. After walking for the most part of the afternoon, we sat down at a few small restaurants/pubs and had a few drinks.
The next morning we headed our way back North to Split. Split is a small city but it contains the largest Roman riuns across Europe. The ruins were quite cool as there was numerous rooms and a basement to explore. After a short tour there we headed back to Zagreb for Friday night.
Zagreb is actually really cool for its bars and clubs. There are many surrounding a lake and so you are able to just walk along the beach and into each club. We found the college kids' favourite bar and so ths is where we attended. Tequilla appeared to be the cheapest drink they had, and so to save money we consumed over 10 shots each until we were appropriately drunk for the crowded venue.
That was about it... we covered 3 cities and almost 2000kms in just a 48 hour trek through Croatia... but now on to Slovakia.
