Finally managed to get Rod on the slopes and we had a fantastic trip. Stayed in a little village called Soll which is about an hour from Innsbruck. Ski conditions were great - the week before was about -20C and the week after we left hovered around -15C - while we were there it was about 5-15C which meant things got a little slushy in the afternoons but that meant an early finish from the apres ski! My group for the week was pretty much all Irish with a token English chucked in. Rudi our instructor was fantastic and had us on the black runs by the second day which was pretty scary. Rod's group were an absolute riot and we've made plans to visit them over in Ireland later this year. ... read more

Hi everyone well here we are in Edinburgh and we have finally found an internet cafe that actually works. If you are ever in Edinburgh look it up it in West Bow Street. Let me tell you about Ellmau ... what can I say ... it was very hard to leave. I found myself looking for places that were for sale and trying to get Miles and Tania to rent the Cafe down the road from the Hotel. The weather could mot have been better or maybe a little less humid would have been good. We only left Ellmau a couple of times for a quick visit to Innsbruck and a couple of the other local villages. With a view like this and the wonderful food and the welcoming people and time to relax why would ... read more

Well after an horrendous series of flights taking a total of 36 hours we finally arrived in Munich. After 2 days recovering from jet lag etc we picked up the rental car and headed for Austria. The town of Ellmau is situated about halfway between Innsbruck and Salzburg. Based at the bottom of the Austrian Alps and at the base of the Wilder Kaiser mountain it really is the most magnificent location for a holiday. Sorry this is so short but we have had problems with Internet cafes not letting us download photos from CD Will try again soon Annemarie & Martin ... read more

Make Sunday Special Well, that's still a campaign some of us believe is important, so we decided to make Sunday different. We had the meeting more as a service, moved it outside and to the morning - so change all round. Peter & Alison also managed to join us for some of it! Thoroughly enjoyable - just watch out for the wet grass! I'd planned on taking a group to Hohe Salve (pronounced "Ho-a Salve-eh") on the Friday, but most were doing something else, but there was a group keen on Sunday, so we moved the date! Another scorching day, so we went for the "let's not push it" option. We walked to Hopfgarten again, then took the 8-man cable car to the first stop, then transferred to the 2-man chairlift, and then for the exciting ... read more

So, had said the previous day that I was planning on going to Lake Hintersteinersee, and who wanted to come with me?! A large proportion of the group did, so into the taxis (always taxis of 8, and the taxi charges from its company's start/end point, so bear that in mind when ordering) and up the winding road (at speed!) to the far end of the Lake. After a brief restaurant stop, we started our walk round the entire circumference of the lake (estimated time 1 hour), stopping frequently to take MANY photos, 2 hours later we were back at the other side. Just time for a quick dip into the lake (there is a permitted bathing area with changing facilities, 3 Euros for the area), which was pretty cold but not too bad after the ... read more
