Having left Prague and its mean stingy people behind, we headed south east to Austria in a much nicer train than we had arrived to the Czech Republic in. Air Con, Trolley service, Microwave, Jacuzzi, butler, gym and a concert area.
But really it did have air con.
We managed to commandere a whole 6 person cabin for ourselves and proceeded to sleep and sleep and sleep. In a stroke of genius i put our bags in between the seats and created a bed type effect. Then in an even greater stroke of genius i slept on the floor and was able to lie down properly. I am the sleep master :-)
We continued along our way and about half way through the journey the police checked our passports and gave out to us for not sharing the cabin. They then gave a seat to a man with crutches. I felt soooo guilty (serious). He left and then i gave another two seats to some Australian girls and another seat to some other girl of then unknown origin. We proceeded to talk in English confident she didnt understand us. We didnt say anything bad...but we were saying some
fairly stupid stuff. Anyway, as she left we found out she was Enlish and it was total embarrassment for me. The actual quote was me saying ´sorry if we said anything offensive. Did you understand our English´to which she replied ´well i am English´ BURN!!!!
The Australian girls, Emma and Emma, were good fun, and we had the chats and had the laughs, making fun of funny place names in Australia, as well as playing a fun little game where we had to guess their names. Anywhooo, we all got off at Salzburg, and after a quick pitstop for some local cuisine (burger king), we got on the train to Bad Gestein. It was an even better train and would have been perfect if a) we had a seat for the whole trip and b) local Austrian girls were not pointing and giggling at us while speaking to us in broken English.
We finally arrived in Bad Gestein and walked accross the road to the hostel. Having settled into our dorm we grabbed some washing powder to do some much needed clothes washing. Which took ALL NIGHT. We did actually then grab some local food, with the weiner
schitzel being highly recommendable.
Then my favourite part. We went to a spa 100m from the hostel. Amazing spa with heated waters, waterfalls, slides, diving board, sauna, jacuzzi, more pools than you can shake a stick at as well as an open air roof terrace with stunning, and i mean stunning, views.
And a nudist area. (the stunning views were in fact of the Alps.)
We then headed back to the hostel, checked our washing, had a dry sherry or two, met Sinead and Annie from England (and had the chats and the laughs) and hit the hay, in preparation for the super fun happy time of activity that was to follow the next day.
And it was going to be quite a day.
