Super Sunday

Another full day of sun and fun, but starting with our usual breakfast (out on the lanai for some of us) and then to the New Life Tabernacle church. Wonderful upbeat praise music. There were special speakers today, and it was a bit of a long-winded sermon (translated into Papiamento, of course) so we left at noon before it was finished. Only 2 hours, John. Returned for our customary muesli rolls with gouda cheese and sliced tomatoes, and watched Princess Bride DVD during the heat of the day.

-Off for our only-one-snorkel-of-the-day around 3:30 - to Arashi, at the far end of the snorkeling sites. It was jam packed with locals enjoying the beach, but of course it's all relative - we were the only ones snorkeling in the coral reef area, and there was no problem sharing a palapa shelter with a gentleman from Canada. He was enjoying the shade - we only needed the table to rest our bags on.

We saw amazing things with the California lighthouse as our backdrop: finally our first queen angelfish, a small one, a lovely black and yellow Rock Beauty, Elkhorn coral, ONE big rainbow parrot fish, and - best of all- a SPOTTED EAGLE RAY and a wonderful BALLOONFISH. And did I mention a turtle!!!

The eagle ray is most unusual for us in Aruba. We may have seen one only once the many times we've been coming. And the balloon fish is the sort of puffer with the eyes like the galaxy - swirling blues and greens, depending on how the light hits. That was Megan's very own find.

Then it was off to Passions restaurant next door. Megan ordered filet mignon and non-alcoholic margaritas!! Jean had the coconut crusted grouper. David the seafood special. We celebrated Megan's birthday adventure there with A dessert with a sparkler stuck in it. The sunset was really good too. We passed part of the time playing Story Cube. Megan is also keen to learn to count to 10 in a variety of languages. Exhausting day!!!
