we seem to be having too much fun to keep making these blog entries each day!
After all, we are 3 people here, and checking in with the "parental units" every now and then, and exhausted, as usual, each evening.
Megan has been having a great time, and has been totally amenable to everything we suggest.
However, she did request an "evening in" last night, with take out food and to watch a video. We could oblige with some of that - did carry out from the Indonesian restaurant (good noodles, not so good sate) but it was too late to rent or borrow a DVD player. So we watched half of White Fang on her Kindle.
Thursday night we went our Aruban friend Francis' house for Dutch Pancakes, and finally met her husband Nelson, and his brother Clive. Francis made an assortment of pancakes, which are more like crepes: with bacon & gouda, just gouda, apple & bacon, plain. All served with the maple syrup we brought, or stroop, which is like a strong molasses. All very yummy, including her homemade ginger/mint-from-the-garden lemonade. Megan enjoyed playing with their 2 rescue dogs.
Friday morning Francis &
Nelson joined us at Boca Catalina to hunt for turtles, as they never see any. Just 12 or so today 😊
Friday afternoon we tried Megan on Mangel Halto, and even tho the winds are down and the waves minimal, the current was still quite strong, so Megan was not able to do the "channel" snorkeling area. She DID see some stoplight parrot fish, however, and blue chromis, which you don't see on our side of the island. She enjoyed playing in the sand while David stayed out longer. We visited Zee Rover just to buy 3 mahi mahi steaks and give Michel a quick hug. The line was very long to eat in I'm glad to say, but we went straight to the front to buy the take away. Exorbitant at $6 (ha ha).
So, today is Saturday, and Megan wanted to return to the "infinity pool" area for snorkeling, but only AFTER eating out at the "Local Store." She had seen the menu when we were there for the hamburgers - a s'mores tower waffles. Disappointing, but our banana pancakes were nice. Won't return there for breakfast. Straight to the big water, a wonderful time there
before the pirate ships and catamarans arrived. The coral does seem to be growing back. We saw a shy porcupine fish, chained moray, lovely squid, etc etc etc. Megan is quite a diver, as you can see from the videos posted on YouTube.
To explain the photos, that's Nelo wearing his Cleveland Indians hat, and we were winning.
then Linda, who retired in December. Her son Michel still works at Zee Rovers.
Then our evening at Francis' and Nelsons. They have 2 rescue dogs Megan really enjoyed.
Then lots of fish photos and playing in the sand. Just lots of sun, sand, and fun.
Don't miss the octopus or squid. Both are so amazing (and tasty).
