Beach at Carambola
Well, we had an uneventful (thank heavens) trip down to St. Croix in the US Virgin Islands. I had to do two days of training for some of the educators here but once that was over we started a mini-vacation ;-)

Our first hotel was the Divi Carina on the east end of the island. Beautiful setting, long beach but we didn't see much there as I was at the Casino across the street doing training all day and Cope was teaching online. Since there wasn't any internet access in the room he had to do it from the lobby with the caribbean breezes blowing and the sea just outside...tough duty.

But yesterday with Cope driving on the left side of the road (shades of New Zealand) we moved to the north side of the island to a great hotel on beach,
Marriott Carambola. Ir was formerly a Rockefeller Resort. We have our own little treehouse with a screened balcony porch to lay and read. Took a walk on the beach this morning and watched the sand crabs ;-) Oh, guess what.. we saw a mongoose as we were driving in! They are all over the island. Right now

Huge Vines Covering the Shopping Arcade
there is BIG surf and the waves sound great. As soon as we got here, the manager was having a rum punch welcome party so that worked out well

It's in the 80's and really humid but just wonderful. Went into Christensted today for lunch and sat on the dock to have fish and chips. Found a bookstore in Gallows Bay then headed back cross island trying to miss the 4pm "rush hour" ;-) We came through a rain forest on the way back..beautiful homes on ridges overlooking both sides of the island. St. Croix is about 35 miles long and 6 miles wide so it's pretty big as Caribbean islands go.

Well, time to log off. We'll try to write along the way. We are here one more day then head to San Juan, Puerto rico where we'll catch a cruise ship and head south to St. Kitts, Tobago and Grenada.

Work & Play on St. Croix, etc.
Hi Ya'll....How is Linda? The scenery and soft Caribbean breezes sound lovely. Hope ya'll get in lots of play amidst the work. The cows are preg checked and we have one 3 month old calf that we're babying as the mom got shipped. We still need to take the bull to the auction as his feet have not really healed properly. My friend, the Putziler prize winner, has another book out so when you get home, please read it. It's poignant. When we ya'll be home? Jack the wonder dog is in the sunset of his life; it's hard on Jerry who had his hand smashed during the preg checking and now has a broken finger---to the hand surgeon on Mon. Then he leaves later in the week to go interior US to check out a tractor. Much love, Christine
