We awoke this morning with torrential rain, so much so we didn't think our Deep Sea Fishing Trip would go ahead.Jacko and Babes went on their usual early morning run.We all met up at reception at 7.15 am. The taxi driver picked us up and we were waved off by Babes who didn't want to go ( see below ) Fortunately the deluge of earlier had subsided and it was starting to dry up as we headed on our 20 minute journey to Turtle Bay. On our way we had to dodge rocks and boulders that had come off the hillside due to the rain and we also viewed Goats,Monkeys and a Mongoose. As we entered Turtle Bay our Boat The Sea Brat and her two man crew were waiting for us.We jumped on board and ... read more

The first thing we want to say is HAPPY MOTHERS DAY to all our mum's out there. Saturday started very quietly for everyone as today was a relaxing chilling day by the pool and beach. Most of the team gathered by the pool by 11am for some early morning refreshments...Diet Cokes of course!! We relaxed by the pool and went for lunch just after noon.Once again the fare was excellent and the boys seemed to enjoy what was offered to them. As is becoming customary Woodsie and Pels headed off to the beach for some diving through the waves and I can tell you they were very powerful and they were both knocked off their feet on a number of occasions, but as ever they both really enjoyed it. Back to the pool to get all the salt ... read more

CRICKET, GAME #2 (Netherlands vs. South Africa) Ahhhh(sigh of happiness at being able to sit down and relax!)….just got home from our second cricket match ever! There was a rain delay (it actually wasn’t currently raining, but they couldn’t play until the field was dry enough to pass a very official inspection) until noon, but once again we were out standing in the stands by 7am. Until the night before the first game it hadn't rained hard here for at least a month, then in rained nearly all day yesterday and into the night—I’m convinced that the Scotts brought it with them! (For those of you who’ve been to the Scottish/Irish Highlands festival in Estes I’m SURE you know what I mean =)!) (warning: Lauren is about to get on her soapbox for the next paragraph....I ... read more

I just told Matt that I had updated the blog and he said “did you put our pictures on?” So seeing as I have some time right now it’s the perfect opportunity to add some pictures of a great hike we took a couple of weeks ago to the top of the second highest peak on the island. I would strongly argue that it’s a much more rugged and difficult hike than the one with a higher elevation…I bet from the pictures you’ll be able to tell why! The trail for this pond/peak, the ‘d'os dane' pond trail, branches off from the trail we took before that crosses the island from east to west. It took us about 9 hours all-together. We took along a GPS that we borrowed, so that we could try to map ... read more

Raining very heavily for most of Thursday.I bet some of you reading this will be laughing at that!!! Babes and Jacko headed out for their early morning run as usual, top effort for those guys. After breakfast Woodsie and Pels went down to the sea for some wave crashing and the rest of the troops just chilled by reception or their rooms with books or watching some cricket on TV. We couldn't even sit at the pool as it was that wet!! We all had some lunch and most of the guys went to the beach in the rain to jump in the sea.It was very rough. We lulled Ravi into the surf and he was promptly put on his backside as a huge wave knocked him over!!! Oh how the boys laughed!! Normal meet at ... read more

Hello everyone! Once again it’s been a long time since we’ve updated the sight. We always talk about it, yet somehow all those great ideas infrequently turn into blog updates. CRICKET Right now the schools and also the program for adults with disabilities are closed for 2 weeks for an early ‘Easter Break.’ I realize it’s not yet Easter, but some of the first games of World Cup Cricket are being held here, which is a HUGE deal for an island of 36,000 (47,000 if you count sister island, Nevis). I’ve had a couple people back in the states mention different talk show hosts joking about it, saying cricket games are being held in St. Kitts then asking…. “what’s that? Where’s St. Kitts??” Before we were sent to live here I would’ve been right there with ... read more

Good Morning Everyone, Another early start with everyone meeting at the breakfast table at 7am not before our two resident runners Babes and Jacko were off out pounding the beach before 6am!!. We had to meet this early because our taxi was booked for 7.45 am to take us to the cricket ground for the Australia match. It is a bit earlier than we hoped to leave but due to the fact there is only one road into the centre we decided not to take any chances as there could have been upto 10000 supporters doing the same! After getting dropped off near Warner Park we made our way up towards the cricket ground where we were all subject to a strict security check, frisking and bag checking etc.Glad to see it was so well organised. As soon ... read more
