Another very early start with Pels,Jacko and Babes up and about at 6am local time.....Seems the body clock is telling us it is 10am uk time, bizarre indeed!! Jacko and Babes head out for another early morning run and return some 40 minutes later after covering a good few miles again. After they showered we headed to breakfast and discussed our battleplan for today.Gordon wanted to head back to the cricket stadium and take pictures of the Australian and Scotland Teams doing their pre match work out. Babes,Ravi and Pels decided to see if they could get into the ground with Gordon and have a look at some cricketing legends. We were not disappointed. We managed to get in and the way the Australians went through their paces was a joy to see.Top class sportsmen pushing themselves to the limit ... read more

Firstly a very Happy Birthday to Ravi who celebrates another year today. After another night sampling the All Inclusive Fare which included Penis Coladas,Sea Breezes and Midnight Sunshine we all surprisingly had an early start. We were fed and watered and sat at the pool by 8.30am.....A big shout for Babes and Gordon (Jacko) who got up with the lark and went on a 35 minute run this morning!! A top effort as the temp is rather high even at that time of day. As most of us had spent too much time in the sun yesterday we decided to take a trip into the capital of St Kitts,Battesserie. We ordered a mini bus for 10am and headed into town at a rapid rate of knots,no real signs telling anyone where to go but we made it ... read more

The first two risers at an impressive 6am were Pels and Gordon who headed for Reception to post some pictures on the blog from our trip over here. We were soon met by Adam and Drylie. We headed upstairs at just after 7am to the good sized Breakfast area where we again had an excellent choice of cereals, full English etc. The consensus from the boys was that the food was good with a big selection. After that we headed to the poolside at about 8.30am where we sat about and had a major chat about our journey here! We were soon joined by Scalesy and Ravi with the two auld heeds Babes and GP arriving a bit later. Adam and Gordon headed back to The Airport to hopefully get their bags and within half an ... read more

Poppoo oli kohtalaisen hyvässä kunnossa paria oppilasta lukuun ottamatta yön jäljiltä!  Kova maa jalkojen alla tuntui useista hyvinkin kivalta aalloilla keikkumisen jälkeen. Me lähdettiin isommalla joukolla käymään Quiltin kansallispuistossa ja siellä olevassa tulivuoren kraatterissa. Tai oikeammin päädyttiin ainoastaan kraatterin reunalle kun alas saakka ei jaksettu kävellä (päivä oli tosi kuuma). Hienot näkymät kraatteriin, hiukan huonommat Karibian merelle. Matkalla ”huipulle” näimme hassuja ”rapukiviä”, pari mustaa käärmettä (pelästyttiin pahanpäiväisesti!), sisiliskoja ja paljon lehtimetsäpolkua! Matka reunalle ja takaisin kesti n. 2 tuntia ja juotavaa kului puolisen litraa. Tänään oli toinen purjehduspäivä. Kohteena 34 mpk:n päässä oleva Basseterre, St. Kitts & Nevis:in saarella. Purjehdus sujui mukavassa tuulessa ja sopivassa kallistuskulmassa.  Saariryhmä on Britannian halli... read more

The tour I did in St. Kitts was incredible! We went to the Brimstone Hill fortress, built high on the hill by the British in defense from the French. The saga of the Seven Years War is endless! Perhaps it is because I’ve spent so much time educating students about the war and how it shaped Canada is why I find it so interesting. As a guide, I really focus on the Plains of Abraham and summarize the rest of the war in only a few sentences. But that war was so immense! The effects seem endless. What really interested me about St. Kitts though is that these two sides joined forces together initially, preventing the Spanish from taking the island and wiping out the Carib-Indian population (which I think is tragic). Then they both set ... read more
