Well been really busy so have been pretty relaxed about blogging. Since my last blog we have been to Monterrico, Antigua and back to the lake. I am sitting here in my little slice of heaven, located here on Lago de Atitlan in the small town of San Pedro. Monterrico is a small town on the Pacific coast of Guatemala. The beaches are black sand and very hot, in fact so hot you can't walk on them ... Read Full Entry

This was a park that ran along the front of the village. We use to rent Horses and kayaks here but all under water now. Because the lake is and Volcano Cauldron there is no real outlet for the water so when it rains for many years hard this happens. The elders of the village say it happens every 50 years are so, I guess that is why they choose the village center high up the Volcano.

The locals are all dresses in their indigeouness clothing. They all wear clothes/colors that show what villages they come from. This was done 300 or more years ago so that they could be distigushed from other Mayan Villages

Vicki and I were having evening coctails on the roof when a large group of young men showed up. As it turned out they were from Guatemala city and here having a Bachelor Party. They really were nice young men and wanted to talk about America. It turns out thy were all professionals and were so polite and friendly we ended up having drinks and talking the evening away. Not much of Bachelor party if they wanted to hang out with a couple older women. LOL We had lots of fun though!
