Well been really busy so have been pretty relaxed about blogging. Since my last blog we have been to Monterrico, Antigua and back to the lake. I am sitting here in my little slice of heaven, located here on Lago de Atitlan in the small town of San Pedro. Monterrico is a small town on the Pacific coast of Guatemala. The beaches are black sand and very hot, in fact so hot you can't walk on them ... Read Full Entry

Antigua has the most beautiful McDonalds I have ever seen. This is the courtyard. This property is very close to the central park so must have been very expensive as it is bigger than all the other places around.

Probably a very rich Spaniard built this place 300 or more years ago. The central courtyard must have been really something in its day. They now use it as a cultural information center. Walked through but everything was in Spanish so didn't spend much time after walking the grounds.

Great place to people watch. The only problem is that your constantly hounded to buy things. I told Vicki just don't make eye contact and shake your head No.

Antigua is well know for studying Spanish. They have many programs to choose from but the one I did with Rick 23 years ago was to live with a family and study in the morning.
