hows my sexy look?!
We woke up a bit dazed today at 6am realising we had slept pretty much a solid 14 hours! We obviousy needed it! We (well I was) were absolutely starving as we had slept through dinner last night so we got up and changed and quickly headed out to go in search of breakie. We stumbled across a place that had a few people in it which is always a good sign, saw that they did coffee and crepes and we were sold. It was the best breakie we have had in such a long time! I had crepes with nutella, strawberries and banana. It was really rich cos it was lathered in nutella! I was only able to eat half of it but it was so so good.. And ben had crepes with seasonal fruit and yogurt. Again, was so yum! Coffee wasn't too bad either! Feeling much better we headed back to our room which was strewn with clothes as when we had arrived we were so tired and frustrated with our locked packs and not being able to find what we wanted! Haha low tolerance when hungry and tired! So, we cleaned up, re-packed our packs and got

skittles smoothies!
ready to go as we had to change hotels at 12pm to start our tour. It was only one block down and it is a small town so Ben got laughed at by the hotel dude when he asked if we could have a transfer before knowing how close it was! It literally was a 2 min walk and the guy walked us there. We checked in to such a cute lil hotel. Still so many diff colours and such friendly staff! We found out on a map where we could find a place with a photocopier or printer as we had been told that our tour leader needed copies of passport and travel insurance. We walked around in circles for a while and ended up back at the hotel without trying, still having not found anything! So asked her again and with a smirk she gave us another option! So we set off again and just thought we would tie it into our day and if we couldnt find it, then hopefully find an internet cafe!

Walking down the main road it was so busy but funnily enough, not with tourists mainly with locals. It was a Sunday and they were all out and about selling things, playing instruments, dancing and just generally being merry! It was really cool actually. I stumbled across a cafe selling skittles smoothies! I was so excited I needed to get one right away! It was a lil disappointing but I did have massively high hopes and it was still nice and the lady in there was lovely! We continued our search for a summer dress and a printer. All dresses were bohemian looking and all One Size! Relatively unhelpful when clearly everyone is NOT one size! But anywho, we continued on wandering around and found an internet cafe who sent us to another one who then sent us to another one in search of a printer and finally on our third we found one! Success!

We walked around for ages trying to settle on something for lunch. We even walked past a Maccas and BK in this quaint lil multi coloured town! You wouldnt have expected that but as we went into Maccas we realised just how important the cuisine must be to them! The Maccas was ginormous and outside they had a massive courtyard with a fountain etc! So flash! I was almost tempted to just eat here cos it was no nice outside but Ben put his foot down - “we are NOT having Maccas in Antigua Rach!” Ok ok... so we continued walking. We ended up stumbling across an authentic looking restaurant which was 4 tip advisor stars which is always a good sign. They had a kitchen n the courtyard so you could watch you dinner being made. We were taken upstairs and after ordering the meals had been delivered literally in like 5 mins..a slight concern but they were like a stew so we decided they must have giant pots down there with the diff stews pre-made. Both of us thought they were ok. We both had chicken stews with rice and unfortunately the chicken in them was still on the bone so we had to fiddle to get through to the meat! It wasnt too bad! 😊

We then continued wandering and heard singing and a band and big crowd of people with some carrying something high above their head with a statue of jesus on top in gold. We think it was a funeral procession through the streets as it looked like under the statue was a coffin. Quite a nice thing for them to do for someone when they pass away we thought.

We were on a search for a painting of Antigua cos we fell in love with the town and it had a gigantic mountain overlooking the town which was almost totally covered with cloud haze in real life, but the paintings of it looked wicked. So cos we wouldn't be able to capture it this was our next option. All the paintings were on canvas but we entered this lil market and got 'chatting' – well single spanish word talking, to this man who owned a stall and he said he could take them off the canvas and roll it up for us! Unfortunately we didnt see the perfect one from him but did a few stalls along and I even got a pic with the lovely lil lady! Success again we then headed back to the hotel to chill out for a bit before meeting out group. On the letter on the board it had 6 names on it! We were like wowza hope they are nice thats a long time for 6 people! And ben being the only guy! But into the meeting we got told that 7 others who had started the tour in Mexico were also joining us for the next 2 weeks then we get another 10 added to 4 of us! So mixes it up which is good. There were 2 relatively annoying ones we found in the meeting and at dinner but harmless and everyone else was really friendly. We had dinner at a wine bar and had really good chicken pasta! It was good to meet everyone and get to know them all a bit.

We were off at 7am tomorrow morning so we headed off back to the hotel to get an earlyish night and pick up some snacks for the journey on the way! A really good day in Antigua!
