Packing and Repacking

I have been spending the better part of the last week milling through a myriad of items.

How does one practically switch from a regular office life, shirt and tie 365 days a year to the living out of a 65L bag for 3 months. Normally I relish the idea. This is far different from my backpacking excursions.

The clothing, so much clothing must be taken. In the mountains we grab synthetic polymers and wash as needed. Here I am required to meet with children, families, etc. and maintain a civil appearance with a weight restriction of 50 lbs.

Ditch the cottons, increase the nylon and polyesters. I am constantly holding each item up and asking does this item’s function justify the weight of its transport. There are very few sacred cows, every item is subject to sacrifice.
