Just back from a 2 week getaway to escape one of the most unpleasant months of the year at Sauble...cold, high winds and no neighbours.

Carolyn & Ken (family) had been to Cayo Levantado twice and recommended it...we agreed!

Sauble in November
good reason to get away!

Dominican Getaway
Just 2km long with mostly low rise buildings, adults only, it was a great place for us to spend 2 weeks. We were in villa #5.

The dock and main lobby
All visitors arrive by boat, 3-4 km from the mainland.

Huge room
We have been to a few resorts but have never experienced such a spacious room and balcony.

we have had rooms smaller than our balcony here.

Lush grounds
The resort has a very large staff to manage and manicure the lush grounds.

exotic plants
we spent many hours walking the island's paths, enjoying the beautiful gardens.

Seafood buffet
A pretty spectacular seafood spread; only oysters missing.

Don Pablo's restaurant
with 4 a la carte and 3 buffet restaurants there was no shortage of choice.

the resort was at about 1/2 capacity; another reason to go in November.

not hard to enjoy being pampered...no shopping, cooking or cleaning for 2 weeks!

day trip
we took an excursion to a National Park, by boat...a challenge for the guide who had to speak Spanish, English & French.

mangroves
important breeding ground for fish, crabs etc.

pictographs
these were drawn by locals before the arrival of Columbus....this area is one of several that lay claim to being his first contact with America.

Home again
we were treated to a great view of Toronto on our approach to landing.

Peaceful Getaway
Wow - nice you guys - Move to Kingsville - our weather is awesome(LOL) - closer to get to the Detroit Airport - looked at your pictures twice this morning - love them - I am in process of making my famous Tourtiers (meat pies) for Christmas -
