My travel plans for 2024 were to achieve my final two bucket list goals of: 1) Visiting 100 countries 2) Visiting the Central European nations of both Linda and my ancestors I figured that the most efficient and economical way to reach 100 was to cruise to the island nations in the Caribbean. We had been to Puerto Rico (see Spring Vacation in Puerto Rico) and the U.S. Virgin Islands (see Summer... Read Full Entry

Congratulations on achieving you 100th country!
And a few more.... I have no idea where I am on that department, close to a hundred I reckon. Now on to your next goal of the year!

I didn't know how many countries I had been to either...
until I joined Travelblog and filled out the Countries Visited application with all those flags. I wish we still had that map.

Our Cruise Ship The Norwegian Sky

Cruising
Congrats on achieving your aim of 100 countries Bob. Denise and I are not cruising people, but a Legendary Blues Cruise in the Caribbean was our incentive to meet Dave and MJ Binkley with entertainment 24/7 and no children!!! What did yours offer? The Norwegian Sky looks like a stunner. I have posted it in our "Cruising" thread in the Photographic Forum.

Our Cruise Ship The Norwegian Sky

Cruising
We are also not cruisers. We have been on 4 cruises...to the Bahamas in 1992, Alaska Inside Passage in 2008, Repositioning cruise from Honolulu to Sydney in 2012 where we enjoyed our time with you, and now the Caribbean cruise. The main thing that the Norwegian Sky had to offer was visits to 14 island countries in 14 days...al very difficult to do by air or land.

Congratulations!
Huge congratulations Bob, on reaching 100 countries! A very momentous achievement indeed, and something to be proud of. What a great way to tot up the countries, 14 countries in 14 days. A whistlestop tour, and a great idea! Sorry to read of the health problems, and hope indeed that you're able to tick off bucket list entry number 2 in Central Europe this year.

Wonderful achievement - 100!
When I read tblog I began to bemoan the fact that I no longer write although many people have asked me to resume. I love to write but the last few years I have shifted over to vlogging as I have fallen in love with videos and find that they bring back memories in a very vivid manner, putting us right back on the spot. Jeanette, my wife, and I have just returned from a month in south-east Asia visiting Thailand and Cambodia for two weeks before joining Diamond Princess in Singapore for a 14-day cruise visiting Vietnam, Malaysia and Thailand. It was a remarkable event, especially having our eldest son and grandson join us for the cruise. By the way, Linda had mentioned her Scottish heritage earlier. We visited Scotland in October, including Dunrobin Castle. If you are interested in viewing the two videos I published please let me know how to send the links to you. Roger Sutherland, Canada

Thanks for your reply...
As for relatives in Scotland, both Linda and I have ancestors from there, to include sharing 12th great grandparents, and their pedigree. We have Sutherland ancestors, but I didn't have time to visit Dunrobin. Perhaps we are related! I published blogs about my visit to their castles in 2022...a couple blogs before the Caribbean blog. I hope you enjoy reading the result of my research!

Dominica - Linda shopping

Dominica
We visited Dominica about 25 years ago and we loved it there. We were lucky enough to get a sightseeing tour around the island paid by two Americans. The Americans asked their local friends for a tour and let us tag along. /Ake

100 and beyond
Congratulations Bob on hitting #100. I'm glad to hear your TCC count. Travel fills the soul. I'm glad Linda was able to do a bit of shopping. Continue on the travels.

TCC List...
Thanks for mailing to me the TCC list of countries, and the contact information!

Over 100 countries
Wow, you have seen so many places in this world. Good that you could finally make it to 100 in just one cruise. It seems you enjoyed the trip in spite of the trouble with your legs. Lovely photos as well. They seem to transmit some warm temperatures into the still chilly parts of Central Europe.

Over 100 countries...
Thanks for your comment. I could use some warmth here in Colorado, too! We just got 1 meter of snow...the most I have ever seen in one snowfall. Our neighbor was kind enough to plow our driveway. Fortunately, the temperatures climb to almost 20 degrees C next week. I hope Spring comes soon to you!

14 Countries in 14 Days??
I'm jealous. We're about to embark on a 6,000 km 23 day road trip, and how many countries will that get us to, well that would be one, Australia.
