We are not in the Yucatan, but have sure perfected the Yucatan shuffle and the lethargic
ambiance that it engenders. We have the sun coming in our window at 5:15, but if you shut the
shutter you sleep a little longer. Get fix a cup of coffee and suddenly, it is getting hot
outside and you have not left the room.

Decided to get and walk up the road and check out the road we had found two years ago with
some great bird sightings as well as a good workout! Before we could leave the room area, we
were surprised by a pizote heading up the path from our room into the underbrush. Enjoyed
the sighting and then headed up to road.

Big disappointment!!!! When we got to the road, no chain across the road, but two signs
saying "Prohibido pasar" with a person on the sign so it clearly was directed to those of us
on foot. Fortunately for us, the trees right at the entrance were alive with birds so we
had a great time checking them out. We got to see some we had not seen in this area in
particular the Western Tanager, Summer Tanager immature male and the Red Legged
Honeycreeper. We were not disappointed by the bird life but they finally moved on so we
decided to as well.

Since we had not had a very long walk decided to walk into town and check out the road toward Ylang Ylang. Walking along enjoying the morning and the sounds of the birds when.........

.Earthquake? or just too much to watch out for going down hill to Montezuma? Not sure but all of a sudden we were both on the ground and Robert was bleeding in several places.

A couple of years ago they had an big earthquake here in Montezuma. There are, apparently, earthquakes somewhere in Costa Rica most every day.

Bad thing is we were down so fast we could not tell for sure what happened because we were so stunned. But whatever the reason, we headed back up to the room to clean and dress the wounds. Fortunately we are carrying some first aid supplies so were able to clean the wound, and dress it as well.

We had already made plans to eat dinner at Luna Llena and so were glad we did not have to limp into town but had grilled tofu with brocolli with a grilled onion, garlic and sauce of various spices for dinner as well as a salad.
