Pura Vita!
Hello everyone. Last night we were woken up by the sound of heavy rain falling on our roof, along with lightning and thunder. Its hard to sleep here when it rains heavily because of the material that the roof is made out of. It seems to amplify the sound (lucky us!). As we rolled over to go back to sleep we both hopped it would clear by morning so we could still go on the hike that we had planned to the BriBri waterfall.
No such luck. when we woke up around 7:30am it was still pouring, and i asked Myles if he still wanted to walk to the bus stop where we were supposed to meet our now friend Shawn. He sleepily told me no and rolled back over. I sadly agreed, even if it started to clear up the water level would be higher, and we had heard bad things about flash floods in Costa Rica. Wouldn't you know it, right at about 9:30, when we were supposed to be getting on the bus the rain stopped. And right at 10:00am when we should have been arriving in BriBri, the sun came out. It was
a beautiful day. lol. We figured while it was still raining that our friend probably wouldn't have been going, but after the sun broke through the clouds we weren't so sure. The weather here is always changing on us. Its so funny, we check the weather forecast every day, and most times it is wrong. After skipping out on the (what im sure would have been amazing.) hiking trip we were pretty bummed, so we decided to treat our selves to brunch in town at one of our favorite places: Bread and Chocolate. Last time we went Myles got some french toast (which they call French Toasties. I have no idea why.) and it looked so delicious that i decided i would get it this time. Myles got some breakfast potatoes smothered in home made jerk BBQ sauce, and fruit. As always Bread and Chocolate was amazing. We also both got fresh lemonade, which is of course perfect.
After a filling breakfast we looked around at some touristy shops in the area. when we were done we stopped at the store to pick up some beans and water. We were going to head deeper into town to go to
the butterfly garden, but it was so hot we decided to head back to the cabina to lounge in the hammocks. We also considered going to the beach, but because of the storm last night the water was really choppy and we didn't want to hassle with any rip tides. Today was another lazy day. We mostly hung out on the porch and read or checked out things on the computer. We also made a budget today for the rest of our trip. Which is nice to know exactly what we can and can not do. Over the next couple of days we are going to: go to the butterfly garden, snorkel in Cahuita national park, go to the sloth sanctuary, and get a couples massage on the beach. Then when Cindy and George get here we can do whatever they would like as well.
After being lazy most of the day we decided to cook dinner. We had never cooked dry beans before but we knew it was essential to soak them, so earlier on in the day we put them in a large pot full of water to soak. By the time we wanted to stat cooking
it had been about 4 hours. Upon further research we learned that cooking beans is a lot harder then it looks. You have to either soak them over night, or you have to alternate cooking and soaking them for about 5 hours. We thought you just throw them in a pot and boil it for a couple of minutes and tada! but no. So we put the beans in the fridge to soak over night, and decided to have breakfast for dinner instead. Myles make mini potatoes, with red peppers, onions, jalapenos, and eggs in taco style tortillas. It was awesome, although I think after waiting forever for the beans to cook. Most things would be awesome. lol.
We saw the monkeys again today as we were eating. The only pics i could get are of their eyes. It was getting dark and i guess the light from the camera was reflecting on them. After dinner we just hung out on the porch and later inside watching a movie (knocked up) on the laptop. It started raining again about an hour ago. The waves sound ridiculously big from our porch. Tomorrow morning we are going to MoJos to apologize
to our friend Shawn for not meeting him this morning. Hopefully he takes no offense. After breakfast i believe we are going to go swimming in a pool at one of the hotels. We were invited a couple of days ago by the reservation guy. Maybe we will also set up our massages. Sorry the past couple of days have been kinda boring. Its nice to relax though. Ill report back tomorrow. Love you all. Good night.
