Edit Blog Post
So Crista's tired tonight so I'm taking over the blog this evening!
Here are the urls to the videos of our zipline tour. Try as we might, we could not get the videos to work on here. Just put these address into your browser one at a time and it should show all of our videos.
So today we (or I should say I) got up a little later than planned (drinking and ziplines will do that to you I guess). Anyways, we decided to rent some bikes today and head down to Punta Uva today for some snorkeling. So we packed up our snorkeling gear and headed down to Banana Azul to rent some bikes.
We got our bikes around 11-1130 and lazily rode into town. We went to Pan Pay and order some bacon and cheese sandwiches to go. We had read that their sandwiches were really good but apparently they don't know how to cook there (we didn't discover this until we pulled them out of the wrapper about an hour later). I'll get back to that though. Crista seemed to be enjoying herself a lot more
on the bikes this time than last time.
After getting our lunch to go we jumped back on our bikes and braved the bumpy road down to Punta Uva. I guess I should have started this story by saying that it was a pretty rough day. By that I mean the ocean. Last night we kept seeing lightning going off over the sea. We never got any of the rain here on the mainland but decided to try our luck anyways. We ended up riding our bikes down to Playa Chiquita and then going down and checking out the tide pools. It was here we decided to break out our sandwiches. We both were starving (and sweating profusely) and hungrily bit into our sandwiches. It was only then that we noticed that whoever cooked the bacon has a very different definition of "done" than we do. The bacon was raw...like they threw it on the fire for about 30 seconds and then said "fuck it!" and threw it on our sandwiches and sent us on our way. We threw the uncooked bacon onto the beach for the crabs to enjoy (if we weren't going to enjoy it then somebody
might as well) and ate the bread and cheese. We then explored the tide pools. It was way too rough for anything else though.
We debated continuing our journey to Punta Uva but decided against it. Even if we had made it the water was way too rough for swimming let alone snorkeling. So we headed back to the cabin and lounged around. Next time! While at the cabin we heard some rustling in the back yard. Upon inspection we realized that the neighbor directly behind us had let his cows out and they were enjoying a mid-day snack of flowers from our backyard.
Around 5 we caught a taxi in front our cabin and went to Mojo's in town and got a DELICIOUS dinner. I got my first burger since leaving the States and Crista got a pulled pork sandwich. Both we're amazing and we befriended the bartender named Shawn. He's from the panhandle of Florida. He moved out here 3 years ago after his mother fell in love with the area. We ate (and drank) while watching the storm clouds move in (it's gonna pour soon no doubt). After awhile we meet a rather persistent drug
dealer named Moses who just wouldn't take no for an answer. After we got rid of him we settled our tab and talked to our new friend Shawn some more. He invited us to the Bribri Indian reserve with himself and some friends tomorrow to go swimming at a water fall. We're suppose to meet them at the bus stop tomorrow at 930. Were both very excited and will report back how everything went tomorrow.
Don't have very many pictures for today as we didn't take the camera with us to the beach. We do however have some videos of the zip lines from yesterday and a couple of random pics from today. Hope you all enjoy!
Happy birthday Kaleigh! We love and miss you.
