Hello All!
Today's entry is probably going to be significantly shorter then the last two because we didn't do much today. We woke up sometime in the early morning to some howling type noises. Since we have yet to see howler monkeys we decided to go check it out. but alas, no luck. After a thorough investigation we concluded that the noise we heard must have been birds 😞 i know, but we will see some monkeys for sure next week. I believe we are going to go either to Cahuita to go hiking, or to the sloth sanctuary on Monday (Don't worry Cindy, i still wanna go with you when you guys get here.). We wanted to give our selves sufficient time to explore the city before we ventured out, that is why we are waiting so long to start on the activities. Plus its nice to be lazy for a change.
Anyways, after the ruckus that the monkeys, or birds, or whatever it really was caused, we decided it was way to early to get up so we went back to sleep. Some hours later i woke up and saw that it was too hot to sleep
anymore. so leaving Myles in a peaceful slumber i crept out to the porch to watch the birds and read my book. At around 10 Myles decided to join the world of the living. lol. As soon as he got up of course i suggested we get food (that's usually all i can think about until i get it.) Myles agreed, so we got dressed and headed out.
Today has been the first day we have seen sun here. Tuesday it rained all night, and yesterday it was overcast or lightly misting. So needless to say i was stoked on the sun, that is until i started to walk to town. With the humidity and the heat, i wasn't enjoying our peaceful stroll down the beach. But, being me, half starved after a mere 10 hours without food, i just wanted to get to somewhere i could chow down. Since i didn't want to waste any time looking for food, we decided to go to Bread and Chocolate again. Today Myles tried the french toasies with fresh local fruit and i got the same thing as yesterday, an egg and cheese sandwich on a fresh biscuit, with a side
of potatoes. Feeling adventurous, i decided to try their homemade jerk BBQ sauce with my potatoes and sandwich. Again it did not disappoint. The food there is great and they play awesome music, today it was Johnny Cash. After we were sufficiently stuffed we headed down to one of the local markets. The prices here are cheaper then in the states but not by a whole bunch. Everything is probably about 30 percent less. At the store we got some food staples: rice, sausage, tomato sauce, milk, cereal, and some fresh bread. Its all we could carry on our backs at the time.
On our way back to the house we ran into an interesting local who moved here some years ago from Humboldt. He showed us some interesting magic tricks and taught us some lessons about being a tourist. He was nice, but kind of sketchy. He also offered us some smoke. Lol. That's the 3rd time so far we have been offered weed in town. Cracks me up. Anyways, we headed home full bellied and tired. We got back and just read our books on the porch for about 4 hours. Listening to the birds and the
surf while reading is the most relaxing thing ever! At 5pm we headed down to the beach to see the colors of the sun set, but since the sun sets on the other side of the country there wasn't a whole lot to see. It was also overcast by that time of day, so that may have had something to do with it as well. after hanging out at the beach for about 30 minutes we decided to head home.
We got back and started to cook our first meal here. It was a simple dinner of rice and sausage. We found some hot sauce left over from some of the former residents that we used to spice everything. We didn't think of picking up any flavor enhancers while in town. The food was good and getting to eat on the front porch was nice. There is a slight breeze out there right now that is a welcome break from the heat today. It did not ever really get that hot, but its still very different from Cali. So concludes our day. Sorry it wasn't every interesting reading this time. I have a feeling some of the lazy days
here won't be that eventful, but ill write it down anyway just in case. Good night all. Talk to you soon.
