Geo: 24.3546, -75.4816From GGT we hopped over to Cat Island to meet up with Bliss II again. We left the Conch Cay Cut (top of Georgetown Harbour) and arrived at Hawk's Nest Point (bottom end of Cat Island) nine hours later. It was a good day of sailing, even though the seas were a bit rough there was a good wind that allowed us to carve nicely through the waves.Once on Cat Island, we spent the first night anchored just east of Hawk's Nest Point. On day two we moved to New Bight to meet Bliss II. New Bight is the 'new' main town on Cat Island and is this island's regatta site. There are several restaurants and bars, a large hardware / grocery store, and everything that we could possibly need. Here, together with Rita ... read more

Geo: 23.3076, -75.1087We've crossed the Tropic of Cancer!!!After anchoring in Thompson Bay (town of Salt Pond) for two nights, we turned northward to Calabash Bay where we anchored off the Cape Santa Maria Resort. Simply Beautiful!!! June 13th, 2014 – Georgetown to Long Island – Crossed the Tropic of Cancer!Hello all,We are "officially" in the TROPICS!!! Enroute from GGT to Long Island, we crossed the Tropic of Cancer. It must be warmer here...the water temp went up from 33.5 degrees Celcius at our beachy Stocking Island anchorage to 36.5 in Thompson Bay. The water in Thompson Bay almost felt too warm. Bath-like.From there we rented a car with our friends Dave and Rita (Bliss II) and toured the southern end of Long Island. It was a fun day and we saw many of the sights including ... read more

Geo: 23.5182, -75.7565Dolphins and Stingray, Sea Planes and Helicopters! Oh my!Having fun at Stocking Island and in Georgetown now that the crowd of cruisers has cleared! May 29th, 2014 – Georgetown / Stocking Island…Take Two! Hello again from Georgetown (GGT)This is my 2nd time entering the Georgetown Harbour and Tony's 3rd time during this trip. Tony, of course spent a lot more time here while the boys visited in March. We've been here since last Thursday. Several of you did see our track entering the harbor from about Emerald Bay onward. Today, we moved from Stocking Island to the "town" side of the harbor to make it a shorter, drier, and easier dinghy ride when doing laundry and groceries. You should be able to see our track again today crossing the harbour. The tracking station is ... read more

Geo: 23.9794, -76.3296After leaving Black Point we spent one night at Oven Rock and explored a freshwater cave the next morning with Rita and Dave before moving a mile south to the Farmer's Cay Yacht Club.Little Farmer's Cay has 53 residents. It is a friendly community that the locals have turned into a destination for cruisers. They receive weekly shipments from the "mail boat" and their main source of income is from fishing. I wish I had my camera when they brought in a "double load" the other day! They are currently fished to their max. All freezers are full and they need to start to sell it to all the other islands before they can start fishing again! They also conch and spear lobster (but not right now - over mating season there's a fishing ... read more

Geo: 24.0978, -76.4048Last few days in Black Point and our Walking tour...here's what we found. Also, we received our part and Tony installed it with no difficulties. So we are now just wrapping things up here and enjoying the local people we've become friends with as much as possible before we move on.We've met another Canadian boat here. "Bliss II" has Rita and Dave on board, and we are heading in the same direction. It's a small world. They are from Northern Ontario and know my old boss, Ken, from Canadian Yacht Charters on Manitoulin Island!... read more

Geo: 24.0978, -76.4048We are at Black Point again because we are waiting for an engine part to be flown in from FLL on Watermakers Air and this is a MUCH better place to wait than Staniel Cay (which is where Watermakers flies to...)Black Point Settlement is known for Laundry and 'free' RO water. They do hope that cruisers will make a donation towards their community for both water and garbage disposal. This is a great little spot with wonderful people and everything we need. I'm adding pictures every few days while we are here - to this entry and to the others as well.Have I mentioned that Black Point has EXCELLENT wifi?!? Major bonus. :) May 2nd, 2014 – Life is back to normalHello all,It's been a while since my last blast email! Here's the quick ... read more
