Picking up Kathy HI guys!!
What a wonderfull trip you have had!!Can't wait to hear about it! Kathy, I'll come in the airport and pick you up tomorrow.
Safe traveling to you both.

Amy
Charlie, you might not believe it, but I did not bring any duct tape with me. Lots of bailing wire, zip ties, and electrical tape though.
In San Fran tonight, lots of walking, but we're having fun. Lots of beer too! Going to Alcatraz tomorrow, hope that they will let us leave when we want?
More Hit the enter button by accident on the earlier posting. Glad to see you and the bride are enjoying the days away from PBF. Keep the bomb on the road and have fun. Thought for sure I would have read that duct tape saved the day - perhaps another day. Stay safe and have a cold one once in a while. Fran Daniels was just here and he said to say hi and can't wait to talk to you about your trip at the June Revival Week at PBF.
McGuiver At It I knew it had to happen sooner or later- McGuiver in action- we had confidence yo could fix just about anything short of a complete engine rebuild.
Fantastic ! Hi Tom and Cathy,
John told me about your adventure ( or is that quest ?) and I have read the whole thing..... I am awed ! I get tired on the long drive to Watertown ...... sometime when you get back I would really appreciate a peek at your car, I have admired it while passing by and now I am REALLY curious. Enjoy the rest of your trip and keep writing, its a hoot !
Bob
We are riding along and enjoying the view
We are happy as can be for both of you
Your trip of a life time has finally come true
Joni and Mark are following you too
B and B would be proud, happy trails to you
Your next career Mr Tom - if this PBF things doesn't work out you should consider being a travel agent- you missed your calling. Keep the Pres safe.
Keep on porsching !!!!
your best post yet Thomas, without a doubt the best post yet, a wonderful telling of a great day. I'm sure you were thinking of Steve McQueen and his buds as you toured about Mulholland, perhaps you'll think of him again when you hit the hills of SF and recall scenes from "Bullitt". If only you could find a steam recip boat, you could even have a "Sand Pebbles" flashback!
I had the oddest thoughts about Porsche's "progress" as I looked at the shot of your tub next to the ubereuros ride, and wondered idly what the ratio of costs would be - your tub at probably under $6k out the door in '65, I can't even guess at the cost of that new multi-turbo gorilla parked next to you. I'm sure it's a lovely ride, but it just seems to me that Porsche has long since passed making cars an enthusiast can wrench to semi-race platforms that need teams of geeky guys in white lab coats to restore to lustre by waving hard drives over them as they babble software chants. I suppose it's progress, I wonder when an all-electric Porsche on the traditional 911 platform will hit the marketplace?
When you get to SF, see if you can get a shot of your car airborne over one of the hilly spots - Cath can set up and do the shot, you drive. Or let Cath drive, you take the shot! I've got lots of good ideas!
Have fun, loved the read.

We are loving your blogs. Sounds like it has been a great trip. We especially enjoyed reading about Galveston. Having lived in south Houston for 3 years, we spent a lot of time on the Strand. Can't wait to read more!
Congrats Mrs Pres Cathy- glad you made it out west. Now enjoy the week off. The temp here today was 64, yes 64.
Hope you and Tom have a great week and keep the "bomb" in one piece. I think it has to make it back to PBF, am I correct or is it being donated to a museum??
Enjoy, you deserve a break- Chaz and Lorien can handle any problems that occur with # 1 and # 2 sons and we can be back ups.
Love you all....Sue and Charlie
the hideous clicking Oh the clicking! I heard it this past Sunday driving on 408 (east-west expressway) about 8 miles from where I live. Familiar to me as well, I pulled over, and thanks to Geico roadside service and Toyota (open on Sundays now) I was back home with a patched tire in a mere 4 hours . Could be worse, right? I'm loving your story.

Well it is real --sort of --
There is a strong art scene in West Texas based in Marfa. The Prada Store outside of Valentine TX is an example of an art "Installation".
bizarre I have a hard time believing this is real. I can honestly say I have never seen anything like this - where is the rest of the mall - I really don't understand. My 2 teenage daughters and I are stumped. They are still staring at the computer screen with their mouths open!
Greetings Hi Tom- looks like you are getting some great ideas to enhance the surroundings of PBF. Have a safe trip - when are we going to see some hot lookiing chicks - what other reason could there be to go so far- ALONE !!
Tomorrow is # 1 son's b day- don't forget otherwise his free labor may stop.
Haven't seen any duct tape yet- did you forget it???
Have a cold one.
You go Boy! South or west. Either direction would be best looking at your frozen snow piled driveway. Burrrrrr!!!!!!! Best wishes for a safe expedition! Hope you fine warm weather SOON! Thanks for the note and keepng me in the loop.

on Louisiana I prefer not to correct people's misunderstandings too often, but I believe your characterization of Louisiana as "terrible pavement" is actually not fact based. A modest bit of research confirms that it's true derivation is from the creole "great stinking waters".
Drive on, amigo!
Hi Tom Patrick sent me your link this morning. I told him it seemed like only yesterday (actually 33 years 9 months ago) that I headed out for the west coast with my thumb and backpack - though it was mostly interstate, 70 as I recall. Where did i go wrong? Enjoy. Herbie
