I watched the progress of Cathy's flights on my laptop, kind of like those radar reports on Santa's delivery route they used to broadcast when we were kids. Her flight from Rochester to JFK was on time (that's the one she was worried about) but the flight out of New York was delayed. After a 45 min wait on the runway, the plane took off, and I checked on her progress as far as St. Louis. Man, she sure got to the Mississippi quicker than I did!

After rearranging the stuff in our tiny car again (I knew there was an inspection coming) I set out south down the coast highway. I stopped at a beach area in Carlsbad and walked for a bit -- warm, sunny, people surfing, the whole California deal -- starting to believe I'm really here.

After a bit, back in the car and south again on the 101. I'm looking for a coin car wash, as the car still has a coating of dried Chiricahua mud. I find one, blast it off, and then on down to the San Diego Airport. We put our game face on, and head onto I-5. In no time we're there, thanks again to Miranda's help. The short term lot is full, with the same cars circulating around and round, waiting for someone to leave. I spot a tiny little space, way too small for anyone else to consider, but not me. After a bit of backing and filling, we do a classic parallel park squeeze, and we're landed!

After a short wait in the terminal, there she is, looking ready to vacation!

We drove out to Harbor Island and had a nice lunch overlooking the sailboats on the bay, perfect. After that we headed over to Coronado Island and walked around at the Hotel Del Coronado, scene of Billy Wilder's great "Some Like it Hot". Again though, no sign of Jack Lemmon, Tony Curtis, or Marilyn Monroe -- not even Joe E. ("nobody's perfect") Brown, too bad, but still fun.

It sounds like our weather here will be a bit challenging for the next couple of days, but we're going to have fun anyway. Everything is going great, though we've already had some conflicts between the two navigators, digital and biological -- but we'll work it out!

I think it has to make it back to PBF, am I correct or is it being donated to a museum?? Enjoy, you deserve a break- Chaz and Lorien can handle any problems that occur with # 1 and # 2 sons and we can be back ups. Love you all....Sue and Charlie
