It's now about time that I start talking about my coming trip to Buenos Aires. I will be leaving on the 9th March which is about 6 weeks away or maybe just 5 as february is always such a deceptively short month. Excited? Yes-ish. I'm super busy with work, preparing things so that it all doesn't fall apart when I leave. I've also been trying to catch some of the Sydney Festival which keeps me zipping up the highway to sydney and then back down to Wollongong again. the Illawarra folk Festival is on now too and my brother is playing in it....I might just make a special posting about that one when I get some photos. Sorry to be drivelling on like this. It's 9 o'clock on a saturday moring and I just don't seem ... read more

Dad had been going on about "the farm" for over 6 months and i had been informed of the blow by blow account of the trials and tribulations of obtaining the property, which is in bungonia about 20 minutes shy of Goulbourne as you are heading south. I knocked off work and spent the night at dad's place in Robertson and we headed down to Bungonia in the morning....in the ute, not less. We tumbled out of the rolling pastures of the Southern Highlands and sped down the Hume to the parchment that this famous draught is written on. Draught is mute and the ute is the only sound that punctuates this ride. I talk to Dad about cows and medicine wilst sucking on thhe "Hacks" that Mum brought back from Malaysia. Dad says it's the ... read more

Saturday 29th July Melbourne Well I haven’t been to Melbourne since 1991 when I lived and studied there. I think Melbourne is a great city and have been meaning to drag my ass down there for years and now I have finally made it! The whole gang of us including Mum and now minus Uncle Howard went down. We stayed at the city Centre Budget Hotel on 22 Little Collins St. …. Dunno about the others but I HIGHLY recommend it as it’s in a great position….there’s a groovy bar across the road so you can get blotto and stumble elegantly back to the hotel and Pelegrini’s is just around the corner, in Bourke St. Also on Bourke is a café called the Mess Hall, which I recommend for breakfast, rather than going directly to the ... read more

Just a reminder that I am actually working through all this. yes i am taking time off here and there but between the here and there it's WORK....remember that? Here's some pictures of a typical day at the office...... this guy walks into the surgery hand bound in a cloth. He's young and smiling, kinda casual. He's hurt himself, I can tell 'cause he's walking with the kind of bravado men get when they have a visible injury. I've cut my hand. the lump of cloth is placed on the reception desk. Tanya takes his details as he makes jokes. I'll tell the doctor you're here and he'll fit you in as soon as he can. that's Ok I can wait. He says Yeh of course you can. I forget about him until he's in the ... read more

So the while gang is here now …. A bout of basically crap weather has turned us off the planned Blue Mountains trip so we decided to make a big day out in Sydney. The day started off Walk to the Rocks Market It is quite a fascinating experience to see all the tourist memorabilia your own country produces. It’s just such weird stuff! Sayhankor is determined to get some stuffed Australian Animals with the GREEN TAG as that means it’s made in Australia and not China but I kinda think that’s irrelevant, since stuffed animals are not indigenous to Australia anyway. However stuffed kangaroo balls are and I didn’t see anyone JUMP to buy one of those for their key ring. I think the shark teeth pendants come from Indonesian terrorist sharks and should be ... read more

After spending a day in Sydney with Dad at the Woolloomooloo place Gee Chek and Dad dropped in to Corrimal. We had something to eat and Dad went on to Robertson and Me, tjen, Gee Chek and Mum all went to the Wests Leagues club in Unanderra to watch Tjen and his piano teacher Eveline play in a dance band. we glided through a maze of flashing machines with people perched on bar stools milking them for a win. finally found the venue. It was upstairs in an empty room with a dance floor. The floor was well lit and the band was in the dark. Soon the dancers arrived. One by one they sat down at the big round table. The band played and announced such dances as the Canadian three step, quick step, pride ... read more
