New York, New York. I didn't really know what to expect of New York before I arrived - somewhere between crazy and scary as often depicted in TV and movies. Well, I was pleasantly surprised it was, well - normal - and will definitely be coming back here again. I was kindly asked to stay with my brother-in-law Amaru's family The Medina's in New Jersey for my stay in the USA, just a train ride away from New York city, which was a nice change from Hostels. I was picked up by Amaru's dad Emerson from the airport, given a local tour of New Jersey and caught up with the rest of the Medina's - Gunilla, Dennis, Rene and Amanda. And as is tradition in their household, visitors have to experience Times Square in New York ... read more

I confess that Toronto was chosen at random in response to someone asking "so are you going to Toronto when you're in Canada?". And given the limited time in which I spent researching, I went in fairly blind, and without a word of French. So after my plane ride from Vancouver amongst a bunch of school marching band geeks, I arrived into a bleak Toronto to a top temperature of 3 degrees. Walking to the hostel I thought it had started raining, but no - that was SNOW falling. Not to be deterred by such extremities, I explored the city on foot until I felt the first signs of frost bite and planned my weekend in a city I knew bugger all about (except that I would unfortunately be leaving before the next Toronto Blue Jays ... read more

Here it is, the first episode of what ever the hell it is I'm doing. Well, after much needed catch up of movies for 14 hours, I flew into Vancouver coming in with a view over snow capped mountains. CRAP, I forgot just days ago I was at the beach in The Shire and will freeze as this town only recently hosted the WINTER Olympics. After some easy transport options I dumped my backpack at the old hostel I thought I had made a reservation for (apparently not - but no problems), picked up a map and went exploring on foot. I was still in denial about how cold I was for a while, and every few blocks I pulled out another piece of my snow clothing so that I was a walking giant marshmellow man ... read more

Well kids, the time has come for me to venture out and explore the big wide world out there since I've been putting it off for many years now. I'm off around the globe on my lonesome to explore foreign stuff, meet random people, experience new things and generally escape the busy life that has become ME. I've decided to document my worldly travels to share it with those that can be bothered reading about it, and write about the predicted disasterous travel stories that are bound to come with my much under-prepared trip. So, sign up and subscribe if you have the time, and then when you have a spare minute you can read about my self-designed, crazy, round-the-world adventure. You too can cringe at my lack of research of countries and cultures, cry at ... read more
