TARA IN EL CHALTERN...OR IS IT HEAVEN..? Thank you for presenting the jewel that is El Chaltern...one of my favourite places...and Ruta 40...always an adventure.
Wow What wonderful pictures and well written blog. I am going to be in Patagonia next year, so have been reading fellow traveler's blogs on it. Yours was incredible. Thank you for sharing all of this with us.
Yes, we got married at the Ice Hotel, it was the most amazing place I have ever been to. I'm flattered that our comment has prompted you to put your picture to the top of your blog :-)
Great blog! \'\'I\'d love to help ban plastic bags and encourage folks to buy reusable ones that perhaps the local Mapuche could produce. \'\'
At least, I am not the only one who suggests banning plastic bags, if there isn\'t a good recycling facility nearby for them. I was horrified, when I was in Sumatra last August, at the amount of plastic and other garbage being thown in the jungle.
Ice hounds Thanks, Chris and Nicki--that's quite the compliment coming from a couple of fellow ice hounds--didn't you get married in an ice hotel?. On your recommendation, I'm going to put this photo at the top of my blog.
"deep indigo to lapis to cobalt to baby blue..." Tara resplendent in blues...embracing the dream...well done. El Chaltern...also one of my favourite places...looking forward to where you next place your crampons.
Amazing! Thanks so much, Mell. Hope you're enjoying Istanbul. I must admit that I was so excited to see my blog up there and just as amazed to see that 50 people have viewed it. I'm pretty overwhelmed, and appreciate your support so much. Efharisto (thank you in Turkish, if I remember)
A SPIRITUAL EXPERIENCE Your writings and photographs reflect to me a spiritual experience of the magic of Patagonia...keep them coming...yes...you have a gift...continue to embrace it.
Hi Tara Hello Tara, I love your writing and photos. What a wonderful advanture you are having and thanks for sharing your stories. I didn't think you were such a snow bunny, but anywhere in nature offers so many wonders that I could see you enjoying it all. And the peace and quiet must appeal to your spiritual side. Interesting to see the photos of the Araucaria trees. We have a few different species of them growing in Santa Barbara, as you probably know (one is the Araucaria bidwillii tree (bunya-bunya pine)).
Be well, dear friend.
Love, Lydia
norfolk pines too I'm so glad you're enjoying my blog. I guess when I visited E. Europe and Krakow in particular, I fell in love with the peace and beauty of snow. I didn't know about the araucaria you mentioned, but I know we have norfolk pines (also an araucaria) at the Music Academy and Lotusland. I'll have to hunt all these out when I return. Happy autumn!
your amazing photos Thanks for the comment, Dancing Dave. I just checked out your blog (I love your style) and your incredible photos, especially of people. Do you have a long lens or are you just braver than I in snapping people?
Love ylour Andes pics ! ... ...but don't think I would do well in that climate.
You might want to meet my long-time friend Will Steger sometime.
Or, maybe you already kniow him. He used to visit Rancho Vejar every year....

good to hear from you! Hey John, good to hear from you. I thought it got pretty nippy in your mountains, no? Well, I may not stay in SB when I return--I'm totally enamored by the snow. Don't know Will, but sounds like someone I'd enjoy. Hope all's well with you!
Gorgeous visuals... Tara,
It's so much fun to read about your adventures! You really know how to choose your spots. I especially enjoyed all the photos. You have a gift!! Love, Nancy & Patrick
Thanks, Nancy! I'm so glad you and Patrick are enjoying my adventures--I was really cut out for the open road. I read you've already had snow in your Maine paradise--how wonderful. I'm so in love with snow, I may move to the mountains upon my return. Lots of love, Tara
amazing day Really, Shane, it was just an amazing day. I was lucky enough to be walking down a trail with an open view and snapped this. I feel as if I'm often just surrounded by beauty. What a great world, eh?
Europe--how great! Bernie, thanks so much for your comments--I always appreciate them. How was your trip to Europe--Germany, I imagine, a country and people I really enjoyed. Hope your family meetings were great! Lots of love, Tara
I´m a one-way ticket, slow traveler, relishing the freedom of the open road and trusting serendipity to guide my journey. When I was younger, I used to travel for a year at a time. Then a few years ago, I roamed Europe and North Africa for three and a half years and liked that even better.
On August 1st, 2010, I left my peaceful Mission Canyon paradise in Santa Barbara's mellow summer and emerged from a couple of planes a day and a world later in the teeming, sub-zero streets of Buenos Aires´winter. Now, with the Andes, Amazon and Galapagos between here and home, will three years be enou... full info
