SOME SCARY, EH WHAT? I was through the text of your blog thinking theatrical masque before seeing the facials photo. YIKES . . . call in the ghostbusters.
Can't wait for our visit to see you in your present surroundings and to scout out the countryside and see where you ply your teaching skills.
Keep working hard. The results are paying off already. Keep impacting those students in a positive manner. These are life lessons they will retain always. Stay well.
Love, now and always,

differences.... it's so interesting to read about the differences there are between our culture and different cultures (like honduras). here in canada you'd never as a kid go over to your teachers house to hang out with them and go swimming and do face masks. there is nothing wrong with it, but it wouldn't be encouraged here. there it seems to be so normal. why do we have to live in a place where everyone is so paranoid about bad thi ngs, like teachers being inappropriate with their students an blah blah blah, know what i mean?
sounds like you are still having a blast, can you belive how fast the time has gone??
keep having fun!!!
Wow - how interesting!! Congrats on your 3 months mark - that's exciting. But I can't believe all the drama that happened over extending your stay for another 90 days. I guess your trip over Thanksgiving will extend it again - that should be a fun trip. Enjoy your next 3 months!!
Carol
P.S. - we finally had our ultrasound. You can read about the twins on my blog now: http://thecoyleclan.blogspot.com/
Wow....what an ordeal !!. I can understand your frustrations. Funny how people in Canada complain about government procedures all the time.....compared to what you just described....our government stuff is a breeze! I'm sure you were glad to just get back to your students. Hope the litte visit to Costa Rica will be more enjoyable.
Happy 3 Months! It's really hard to believe you've been gone for 3 months already...crazy. Sorry you had such a crappy, confusing and weird day, hopefully you'll get ur passport back soon.
Paper I just read your post on FirstClass about 20 mins ago. I remember making a newspaper when we were in Grade 3, and we also interviewed staff (admin, our teachers) and wrote about big events that had just past at the school (and by the sounds of it, you guys have a ton of holidays, celebrations, and exciting events). Since you just worked on procedural writing, they could also include a recipe or a "how to" article. Ads and sports could be fun too....it's a shame there would be nothing interestign abotu the weather though ("warm, sunny, beautiful as usual....yawn")...just kidding, I am insanely jealous! You'll have to somehow post the final copy if you type it up or anything! Good luck with it!
awww. those comments by your kids were soo cute. way to go Sarah they really love you, and i think they are realizing how lucky they are to have you for a teacher. love you, miss you. XOXOXOXOX
AMEN TO THAT!!! These kinds of comments, cute and genuine, from a young, innocent heart and mind are the reasons all of Art Linkletter's shows (like Kids Say The Darnedest Things) worked on TV for so long, so many years ago. Priceless, Sarah. Godspeed to one of our gifts from God. And thanks for this.
P.S. (SPELLCHECKER) realize, realize, realize, realize, realize, realize, realize, realize, realize, realize, realize, realize, realize, realize, realize, and one more (caps this time) REALIZE (zed, zed . . . realize zed).
Love, now and always,

Yo Sarah,
First time I've commented! lol, sorry I haven't been... I loves you Miss Willett... lol. It's been crazy busy with work and classes and etc... (you remember) so I read your blogs and then start some other stuff. Just wanted to say hey, how goes. Sounds like those kids really like you down there. And like one of them said, teachers do have an impact, devoting their lives to teaching others. Something we really don't think about... Teachers are usually cast in a negative light ("Why did I get this mark? You're teaching them what?!) but every now and then a teacher comes along that chages the status quo. Hope you keep up the good work. Talk to you soon.
Your cousin,
T.J.
Too cute Just had to share this one with my co-workers today - I could tell when they opened their e-mail and were reading it because I could hear the "aaawwww how cute" comments and the laughing. Wonderful way to start my day. Thanks Boo Love Mom
Wow. I've made the executive decision that you're prety much a super hero. And I love you. And miss you.
And I have a visitor coming the second weekend of November. Hoorah!
Inspiration Sarah,
I read your blog faithfully following your escapades. It is a valuable and memorable lesson to learn how much one person can do to touch a life. Hearing about the exciting encounters that you have had so far have only made me that much more excited about my adventure to Camp Sizanani in South Africa as a volunteer nurse at the AIDS/HIV life skills program.
Luv Cheryl
Hey Sarah,
That's such a sweet story your old Ht sent you, I so remeber you talking about him. Teaching here is somewhat different then there but the responsibility and rewards are the same. We do make a difference, even though some days it may be VERY small especially in Kindergarten lol. I am sure you are doing a fabulous job and making your students lives better just by being there with them everyday. I am TIRED but lovin teaching too!!! I miss you and am glad you are having such a great experience. We are getting a TLK eveninig together soon, so we sill toast you and I will send you the pics. Take care.
Teary eyed Wow - your blog today Sarah and all of the responses to it have brought tears to my eyes tonight. I am so proud of you and what you are doing and what you are giving to these children. You have obviously chosen the right career for yourself. And thank you Carol and the rest of you that have been such an inspiration to Sarah and supporting of her. Love you and miss you Boo! Love Mom

WOW ...so true! Hi Sarah,
Been a while since I posted but I thought I needed to today!
Your message really hit me. It is true that we have to teach the kids so much more but there are not a lot of things that can give (in terms of time and things) but it is important that we do it!
I am sad to hear your story about the little boy with the belt but I am sure you will do what is right... you have the nack.
Thanks for your inspirational message... you make me step back and think ... Thank you for that!
Take care and keep smiling,
Nicole
AN APPLE FOR THE TEACHER Hurray for host teacher Carol. You've touched a young teacher the same way she has touched her students. Thank you. It's so refreshing to see that caring and learning can be so contagious, and passed along. That in and of itself must be the great reward. Beautiful to bear witness to. Many thanks.
Sarah's dad XXX OOO.
Hey Sister! Sorry i haven't left any comments in your blogs. i was actually kinda behind with you blogs just 'cause i haven't had a lot of time lately... but i finally caught up and can't wait to read more. I hope all is still well, i'm honestly sooo jealous of you, i wish i could be exploring the world too. maybe we could go on a trip together somewhere nice once you are home for awhile. We have to catch up, maybe we can talk on skype soon. I love you and miss you sooooooooooooo much! XOXOXOXOX
uniforms... I didn't realize until recently that the teachers had to wear uniforms too, I don't know if I maybe overlooked that....
in a way i think that's easier cuz then you don't have to decide what's appropriate and what's not, and go out and buy clothing, but I guess it would get boring after a while!!
hope all is still well, seems alright by the blogs, sorry i left u the other night on msn, i was at work and forgot i had msn on!!
talk to you soon!
xoxo
cuties hey cute kiddies.... i know u are having a ton of fun and i'm glad that you got to experience this. I miss you. Keep having fun sweetie! muah steph;)
Sounds rough... Your lack of supplies puts things into perspective for me and makes me appreciate the things we do have in our school. Thanks for the reality check Sarah even though you get the short end of the stick on this one...Hang in there hunny bunny! Miss you and love reading about all of your adventures. :)
S'NO WAY, IT'S OCT 12 You missed the first snow storm of the season Thursday, Sarah, with uncanny sideways snow in which you could hardly see across the road. Wow, way too early in the year for that stuff. It was really thick in Kitchener for a couple of hours, but , thankfully, not much stayed on the ground for Friday.
And Buffalo got it worse. Their snow hung around. The following is a bit of an Associated Press story I scanned from the news wires:
HL:’Historic snowfall’ wallops parts of Ontario and Buffalo, N.Y.
FORT ERIE, Ont. (CP) A rare October snowstorm left a section of southwestern Ontario buried in snow Friday, but conditions were much worse across the Canada-U.S. border in the Buffalo, N.Y. region, which received as much as 60 centimetres of snow.
About 30 centimetres fell in the Fort Erie, Ont. area, forcing the closure of the Peace Bridge crossing to the United States for a few hours early Friday. A section of a highway leading to the crossing and all schools in the Fort Erie area were also closed.
In western New York, the snow downed scores of tree limbs and toppled power lines, leaving more than 220,000 customers without electricity.
Buffalo had received 56.6 centimetres of snow Thursday and Friday for the “snowiest’’ October day in Buffalo in the 137-year history of the U.S. National Weather Service, said meteorologist Tom Niziol.
“This is an extremely rare event for this early in the season,’’ Niziol said.
A 170-kilometre stretch of the New York State Thruway from Rochester to Dunkirk, southwest of Buffalo, was closed because of the snow. Several drivers were believed to be stranded in their vehicles.
The storm caused numerous flight delays and cancellations at Buffalo’s airport, which was shut down for almost two hours late Thursday.
There you are Sarah, enjoy the climate you're in while the rest of us deal with the nasty stuff.
Godspeed, Boo.
Love now and always, DAD XXX OOO
It started with a year teaching in Honduras. Then it was home to the COLD winter of Canada to try and pay off some debts, followed by sailing the seas with Norwegian Cruise Lines, working as a youth counsellor.
Next it was back to Honduras, teaching in a school in Tegucigalpa!
Now, I am home in Canada but continue traveling.
Thanks for joining me on my journey!
