Me and Sarah got in from the train about ten and did nit have a place lined up to sleep. We were going to find a place when we saw some other backpackers. Straight off one walked up and aske if we were american I told them that I was and Sarah was an Aussie. They turned out to be Aussies too from Melbourne. They told us that they had a cheap place lined up so we decided to tag along. The reason they were asking us was that they did not know how to get to the place. Steve (the other was Rick I think, Sarah correct me on this) had taken a picture of the computer screen of google maps. I thought this to be a genious idea and am going to try it. ... read more

Octoberfest was crazy! I got off the train and saw some girls in the traditional dress and thought it was a promotion. I than looked more and found most of the city was wearing the traditional get up and i was the one out of place. I set my bags at the hostel and had a walk. The first night Nick and Sarah did not yet in until late. So first i had a walk om the fair grounds and was suprized how much of a fair it was. I went out about 8:30 with they English roomates of our hostel and the one American that was living in London. Their group was very fun. They had all worked in Austria teaching English in their third year of uni. We meet up with some of their ... read more

I am leaving Zurich today and the Rama-Gasser pack. I had a great time getting a real home meal and rest in a real house. We went to Chur and Holdenstein and saw the castles that the Gassers helped to make. I relized how much I for got when I first got there. Certain parts really sparked a memory though. The big ones were the Gasser furniture workshop, the old castle, the new castle garden, and the fountain in the middle of town. It was fun to see all these Gasser icons again and hopfuly put them in my mind better this time since I am older. We also walked around Chur and had lunch. Chur much more of a city while it is only a little way down at ththe road. I also had some ... read more

I hopped on the train to Interlaken about first thing this morning. The trip was fun I saw te Swiss countryside more to the way one expects it. The mid level clouds still hung over the peaks limiting the sight of the big Alps. I got into town and got myself situated in a hostel slash campground. I was thinking of camping but thought with the cough it would not be best. I had a snack on the river outside camp and then made my way up to see some mountains. I went to Lauterbrunnen then Wengen. They were both very cool and had amazing views. I tried to hike around as much as I could but did not get too far. I am debaiting on what to do tomorrow since I want to hike here ... read more

I am on the train to Bern still not feelinghe best butteying to see what I can as I rest. I am by the lake now and the clouds seem to tie to the water creating one vast void as the small villages hold on to the edged of nothing. It seems right that only grapes are being grown as the vines can cling better than most. Occasionly I see a boat floating on the clouds and wonder if it is all vapors. I see my first bovine n' bell and now feel like I am in Swiss teritory. The hills are wavy green and spotted with clusters of buildings. I can not help but relax and feel good. Geneva felt like France to me, it was such a hub of business. No alps yet but ... read more

I my second time in Geneve. I got off the train correctly and found that this train takes you to the little station on the other side of town. I had a great walk across town seeing the giant fountain that looked like old faithful. It was hard to find a hostel for a while but did and had a rest. One of the people in my room, a German from the black Forrest area worked for a material science company that tested car and train crashes. He was a civil engineer though. I woke today and decided I needed a doctor. I just needed some help getting better, my cough kept me and I am sure the rest of the room up part of the night. I went and asked where the doctors were. this is now my second day in Nice and I really like this place I think it is my favorite French city. The one downer is the beaches are rocky. The first day I was to meet Nick but he flew and I trained so it was hard. I just walked about the city by myself and went up the rock next to town. I forget the name right now. It was neat to see over the city, since it is flat, to get a feel of what's what. There were parts of several old forts that have been blown up over the years. At the top you could see Nice and the port which was on the other side. I thought it was real cool that the port side was blasting music for some reason. ... read more

I took the train to Marseille today from Barcelona. Benno (one of my Aussie mates that was here six months ago) was right the train ride along the south of France is splendiferous! I was a bit tired along the Spanish part of the train ride and got some sleep. From what I saw it was nothing to write home about. So I will not. The French police let me know when. It was time to look about when they came through the cars yelling all sorts of French stuff. I luckly heard one word that sounded like passport so I got it out as one of them glanced at it to make sure it was not just my diary or something. Then we were off again to see the good stuff! The first to strike ... read more

Ibiza was the single craziest place I have ever been. I think it makes Vegas look tame I got to say. I got there and walked about for a few hours before Nick was to show up and saw the city of San Antonio and the beach at sunset. It was real nice expecialy the sun set. I had a few drinks waiting for Nick who wad to get in at eleven. He ended up showing up at about 1:30am I had just laid down to sleep. I had to wait for him in the hostel because we do not have cells and had nowhere else to meet. He also had the tickets to the foam party we were to go to. He shows up and said that some English guys would not sit down at ... read more

The next day I got he ferry from Tarifa to Tangier. This city is not hat great and filled with scammers praying on the tourists coming in. I got taken in by a man that said he worked for the government and was to help since it was Ramadon and said I do not have to pay him. He took me to places where he go commotion I think and talked me into buying a jalaba (robe thing) since it was Ramadon and in the country part I was headed to they were not as welcoming. I found this latter to be false and did not wear it once. Later that day I meet Zachariah a nice young man that was with his German girlfriend. They showed me around and told me the best sights in ... read more
