Day 07. A 05:30 start to the day and off to the airport for a nice short trip to Munich to meet up again with the Reids and to drink a few steins of the good stuff. We arrived at midday and found our way to the hotel with no problems. The cobblestone streets are not uber friendly for rolling suitcases. Hotel Eder was to be our base for the next three nights. They are really proud of their old wide timber stair case and it does look lovely, just not so much when they put you on the top floor and you have to cart your bags up there. We had a little laze around in the room until, BAM, the Reids turn up with pretzels on their minds and euros in their pockets. No ... read more

Day 05 Zoo and Night Flight to London Well the weather really put it on for us today, we had a lot to do and it was hot, hot, hot. Breakfast as usually then maxi taxi to the Zoo to check out some animals, providing you haven’t got your heart set on seeing a giant panda! Normal photos on the way, followed by a heated debate whether this crocodile looking thing was real or fake. I can’t be right all the time. The sea lion show was so good we decided to follow it up with a domestic animals shows. This was a certain kind of amazing! On the side of being amazingly bad. When cats outperform dogs by just walking in a straight line then all hope is lost. Adam was most impressed. The highlight ... read more

Day 04 Universal Studios. The morning was to travel at a moderate pace because Universal didn’t open until 10:00. Once again I managed to squeeze in a gym session, this time with Oli followed by a swim. We caught up with the Reids for some breakfast and morning banter then we got ourselves some cabs and headed over to Sentosa Island for a bit of movie fun. After the compulsory photo in front of the Universal spinning world logo thing we lined up to be among the first in the gates. Once again the first rollercoaster, the bad ass Battlestar Galactica, was a solo ride. No worries I am sure the others will catch on. To make the rides more appealing for everyone we headed over to a smaller dragon rollercoaster. The thing that made this ... read more

Today we woke up to the voice message of Adam Apples on our room message banks, the Reids are in the house. Not only that but they were staying just across the hall. Called them back and 2 minutes later we had Jack on our doorstep trailed by Tom. I managed to squeeze in a quick morning gym session then we went down and had some breakfast with the Reids and plan the events of the day. We decided on a nice easy day and a tour of some of the local areas. So we jumped some cabs and headed off to the gardens inside the dome, maybe find a dome within a dome. Some nice photos, purchase some tickets and we soon found ourselves inside the beautiful air-conditioned gardens. Some cool timer sculptures and some ... read more

Considering the long day yesterday of readying and flying the Walkers woke nice and early this morning, a lot earlier than they planned. This turned out to be a bit of a blessing when they went down stairs and discovered the breakfast buffet. Lucky that there was one of the holiday makers that had a body built for big breakfast, thank goodness for the weeks of quasi dieting before the trip, things where about to change! Bellies full and arriving at our appointed location, the Singapore Flyer, early we had a chance to have a bit of a look around. This was really pleasant with a nice garden to stroll through and an area which was full of old school hawker food trollies. unfortunately it was a little early to get the deep fried oysters. Well the Walkers are off again. Morning was a little frantic with some last minute packing, some tradesmen turning up and a bit of yelling to and fro, but all in all.... smooth sailing. Bob and Julie took Oli to say a last farewell to his followers at the Workers Club and Mal and Jenny giving us a lift to the airport made the morning that much easier. Flight was at 15:30 and the couple of hours to kill went pretty quick with the aid of shopping, food, electronics and of course a sneaky beer of two. The flight was all good, standard air food, poor selection of movies, a bit of are we there yet, some flight nerves and sardine impersonations. Thankfully they don't look at you with judgment when you order two bottles of ... read more
