Day Three Nobody told me that parking a car in Rome could be so much fun. Watching the Romans do it is even more fun, more like touch parking, bit of push here and a bit of push there. Getting the car into the car park took three of us and 187 point turn, getting it out took just me but again a 187 point turn, but no bumping of cars on my part. Still once the car was out, we loaded up our luggage and out of Rome we drove. Not too hard, just road signs are a bit deceiving, and speed limit, well what speed limit, everyone just seems to do what speed they want and toot if ou are going too slow even if you are doing 120 kms. We stopped at a ... read more

DAY ONE Finally we have arrived in Rome. The flight was not too bad as we all slept for a couple of hours. Our taxi was waiting for us when we cleared customs and passport control. Then he dropped us off at our apartment which is fantastic!! We had a shower and then we headed off on our first tour of Rome. Off we went to the Colosseum which is only 5 minutes down the road from where we are staying. It is raining in Rome and we are all rugged up but we dont care, we are here!! We did a tour of the Colosseum, Palantine Hill and the Forum. Good value and the easy way to see everything. We then hopped on the red bus and did a full two hour tour around Rome ... read more

Finally, we are on our way, after five days of waiting very nervously, the flight left Melbourne today on time at 3.45pm. Dad, Carol and Hayden were our trusty taxi drivers and got us to the airport in plenty of time. Standing in line we showed off our Clarkee tattoes, much to Peter's embarrassment! Though I did tell him if we are going to get Clark Rubber funding for this trip we would need to make sure Clarkee was seen everywhere around the world, so Clarkees adventure begins now too!! We were about fifth in line to check in and after sending off our bags to Rome, we went to the Irish for lunch and a bottle of champagne. Once we said good bye we literally skipped into the departure hall and then wandered around the ... read more

Yes, we are still in wonderful Ferntree Gully..... And not happy about it. Our flight was cancelled on Saturday and we have been rescheduled to fly on Thursday 22nd April, now arriving in Rome on the 23rd April. We have been confirmed on the flight for Thursday, so long as the flight is actually going. Trying to be positive, but I must admit I am having trouble keeping enthusiastic! We have managed to change our return flights so that we can extend our stay for the days we have lost at the start in Burgundy, France, which cannot be a bad thing. So, if you are into it, please pray that the ash and smoke drift off and our plane goes on Thursday as planned. Oh by the way, three sleeps to go!! (I am sure ... read more

Ok, so I am away resting up (Ha Ha) at the Clark Rubber conference and there is only three sleeps to go! It has been like being on another planet over the last few days as it has been so busy I have hardly had time to think about Italy, but as we are coming to the last few days of the conference I am starting to get excited again about our great trip. I am getting text messages from the "Travellers" reminding me of how many sleeps and generally keeping me going until Saturday. Must admit I am concerned about Robyn being able to be the Financial Controller as I think Jenny thinks going on holidays means you spend, spend, spend and pay the credit card when you get home and from what I hear ... read more

Here we are only 12 sleeps to go! Once again we have got together to countdown the days until we go. All the cases have been packed with Peter winning the prize for being the best packer. The girls are all secretlly pleased that he has lots of space in his case, as that means we can sneak things in that wont fit in our cases! (Shhh don't tell Peter). We are organised now Kevin (Sandra's dad) is picking Jenny and Sandra up on Saturday 17th April at 10.00am. (Mind you the plane doesn't go until 3.30pm but we have all decided that we would rather be out at the airport early!) After picking us up we will then pick Robyn and Peter up by 10.30 and then be at the airport at 11.30am. Then we ... read more

We travelled up to Brisbane to visit our new investment property and check out the area. We had a great morning with Ian who drove us around the area and showed us the unit. As you can see from the photo's not quite ready to move into. We had a fun day and then came back to Melbourne in the afternoon and arrived home pretty exhausted by 9.00pm.... read more

Here's hoping that the blogs when we are away are much more interesting than these ones while I try to work out how this site works. I have been reading the blog of someone else who is in Italy at the moment and they are having a greeat time. They seem to be following the same route we will be taking - Rome, Tuscany, Cinque a Terra and then Venice.... read more

We have 36 days to go now and we are busy reading everything we can about Italy and the places we are going to see. I am still not sure how this works but hopefully will have it worked out by the time we leave!! We have been planning this trip now for two years and have read so much stuff that I am not sure how we will get to see everything we want to.... read more
