Appian Way
How wonderful for you to share these stories with those of us who also had uncles/aunts in the WWII. They were children fighting for OUR freedom and the countrymen whose land they tread. The Appian Way looks so much different than it did in my 7th grade Latin book (which I still have). The medieval village looks intriguing. Did you get to go up close? Do people reside there? Once again, thanks for sharing. Leaving for vacation in the am. Have a safe trip home.

Wow!
Sounds like you are having an amazing trip and finding the Italians like to talk just about as much as mountaineers! Glad you are getting to have so many interesting conversations and experiences. The pictures are great...and I could have warned you about the fish pizza! They have that in Finland, too, and it wasn't a great idea there either. :)

Making friends!
Looks as if you have made all kinds of friends in Italy already! Those years of meeting new people at 4-H camps are really paying off :-) The food, weather and city look wonderful and I can't wait to hear more about your trip. Very cool that we can travel along with you, thanks for posting all of the pictures and stories! PS - Did dad use his iPod or was he entertained by conversation the whole way to Italy?

Wow Becki! you've come along way since writing your traveling "memiors" in a 2 x 3 spiral note book. Keep the photos and notes coming, I'm living vicariously through you. And don't be afraid to try some wine either... it's good for you! Glad you arrived safely. Enjoy.
