Delayed in AtlantaDelayed in AtlantaDelayed in Atlanta

Can you spell tired?
We were delayed for 3 hours out of Atlanta...mechanical failure...good thing they got another plane!! Thank goodness for Roger as I was able to listen to music with his Archos and the noise cancelling headphones...worked great! Was a great ride over here but long...after about 6 hours I started getting restless...Larry paced the plane and it was a big one...394 passengers. I think Larry walked around all night and got to know many people. Mom watched and movie and so did I. Didn't sleep much at all so when we arrived at the bed & breakfast we all took naps. Rome airport was not fun...should have learned some Italian!! Just couldn't understand the help staff (wheelchair people).

We have walked around the city and had dinner at a place that remined me of Jimmy Columbos or Muriales (before they expanded so much). We loved it. The pace of life is much slower around here...we sat at sidewalk cafes and ate gelato and just watched the people. We are right outside the vatican. We found an instrument repair shop - owner didn't speak English but we communicated anyway.

Of course mom has talked to everyone about why we are here

and generated interest in Uncle Jim's World War II travels. We meet our Italian tour guide tomorrow and head to Monte Cassino. It will be a very eventful day.

I am going to try to upload pics I took on our way here. Hopefully it will work.

Safe & Sound
Principeca! Thank you for keeping us informed. You are so thorough with your explanations, it's almost like being there with you! Thanks for sharing. Lori wants me to make "Becki's pepperoni rolls" for Steve and bring down. This should be interesting! Take care, love, Nanci

:)
Wow Becki! you've come along way since writing your traveling "memiors" in a 2 x 3 spiral note book. Keep the photos and notes coming, I'm living vicariously through you. And don't be afraid to try some wine either... it's good for you! Glad you arrived safely. Enjoy.

Making friends!
Looks as if you have made all kinds of friends in Italy already! Those years of meeting new people at 4-H camps are really paying off :-) The food, weather and city look wonderful and I can't wait to hear more about your trip. Very cool that we can travel along with you, thanks for posting all of the pictures and stories! PS - Did dad use his iPod or was he entertained by conversation the whole way to Italy?
