Our Mobile Journey

Welcome to Our Mobile Journey!! I started documenting our travel adventures in a paper notebook a few years ago and then decided to go digital so I could share our experiences with friends and family (or who ever was interested in taking the time to read about them). We purchased our Winnebago motorhome in 2014. That is when our traveling adventures began with most of our travels to campgrounds in Minnesota and surrounding states.

In August 2017, our motorhome was put away in storage temporarily when our life changed due to Jeff's job. The opportunity came to open an office in Denver, CO and so we took off to CO to establish the Denver office and find an apartment to live in for a year on company expense. We will be spending most of our time in Lakewood, CO where we found a nice apartment with great amenities and also traveling back to MN from time to time.

Hope you enjoy following my blog through our journey in establishing an office in Denver and our adventures exploring the beautiful, colorful Colorado!

Update: Oct. 2018 - Our fun, wonderful adventure in Colorado unfortunatly came to an end way to quickly. A year in Colorado went way to fast. Our newest adventure has taken us to Houston, Texas. Another opportunity for Jeff to start up a business in the Houston area. So we are calling Sugar Land, Texas our home for the next 10 months and will see what type of adventures we can find in Texas.

We have been living in Sugar Land, Texas now for 5 months (since September 2018). So far our experience has just been ok. We would have to admit coming from the beautiful state of Colorado, Texas is a little hard to live up to that. We have been trying to make the best of it though. Sugar Land is a southwest suburb of Houston. Located about an hour from George Bush International airport and 45 minutes from downtown Houston. Although Sugar Land is a very nice and clean area, we struggle to find enough outdoor activities that we like to do such as hiking and exploring nature. There is a small nature preserve area within walking distance from our apartment so I venture over there from time to time to get my "nature fix" and to ... read more

And so our adventure continues....to TEXAS! Houston, Texas is where our next adventure begins for J's business opportunities. Of course we were pretty sad to leave the fun, beautiful, perfect weather state of Colorado. We were just having way too much fun there but the show must go on as they say. We took our first trip to Texas in August to search for apartments. We had a few areas that we wanted to look in which included the Energy Corridor, The Woodlands and Sugar Land. These we chose due to the location from the airport and where J might be conducting most of his business. The Energy Corridor was our first place to start looking and where we also stayed the first night during our search. After looking at several apartments in this area, we ... read more

Our 2nd camping adventure in Colorado was to explore the Jeep trails near Cripple Creek and Canon City. For 3 nights we stayed at the Rocky Top Motel & Campground in Green Mountain Falls, CO near Woodland Park. Not sure I'm really recommend this campground because it needed some work but it appeared that it had just been taken over by new management and improvements were starting to happen. Lots of seasonal campers were already getting settled in for the winter and some others looked like they had been permanent residents for awhile. We were sort of tucked in between the mountains and up on a hill so the views were pretty nice and the area too. We did have full hook-ups. We didn't spend much time actually at camp except for the first day when ... read more

North America » United States » Colorado » Alamosa July 12th 2018

Our first camping trip in Colorado with the motorhome! We were excited to get out and explore. The Great Sand Dunes was on our list of places to see in Colorado. We found a KOA campground with an opening mid July so we headed off for our 3 1/2 hr trip to the Alamosa KOA. Just a few weeks prior to our arrival, Alamosa had experienced the 3rd largest fire in Colorado - The Spring Fire. In fact the highway had just opened the day before our travel and it was 91% contained. We could still smell and see some smoke that resulted from the fires. It was a very sad thing to see all the nice green landscape that had turned to brown and black from the fire damage. The campground was a nice campground ... read more

We had been wanting to do some camping in our Winnie in Colorado but we were waiting to find a place to store it here in Colorado. We finally found a great place that was nearby and they finally had an opening in June so we flew to Minnesota and drove our Winnie back with our tow car (Ford Edge). Our son had been using our Edge while we were in Colorado so unfortunately this forced him to have to buy a vehicle of his own (but we helped him out a little with that). So we flew into Minnesota to drive the Winnie back to Colorado. We took the scenic route through South Dakota on the way back and stopped at a few places. North America » United States » Colorado » Lakewood May 24th 2018

It's hard to believe it's been 8 months since we started our adventure here in Colorado. Time has just flown by but yet there is so much more we want to explore here in Colorado. The first several months we were flying back and forth to Minnesota about every month. After a few months of having the kids living in the house and seeing how they maintained it (or lack thereof), we decided it was time to prepare to say good-bye to the place we raised our children and called home for the past 20 years. It was bittersweet for sure but we knew it was what we needed to do because it was too hard to maintain a full sized house when we were living about 800 miles away. So the purging began! It was ... read more

North America » United States » Colorado January 31st 2018

As I write this on January 30th I have to say winters in Colorado are not so bad. Although from what I hear this has not been a typical winter for Colorado. It has been much more tolerable than a Minnesota winter. We started out with November's average temperature being in the 50's and 60's and even some 70's with an average around 50. December was a little cooler than November with the coldest being around Christmas when it got down to 20's and 30's. Of course that's when we flew the kids down for a visit. I was really hoping they could have experienced the warmer Colorado winter. They did get a little on the last day. January started out pretty cold in the 20's and 30's with not much snowfall (except for in the ... read more

North America » United States » Colorado » Pueblo November 3rd 2017

Business in PUEBLO Since Jeff was considering hiring someone to work in Pueblo, we took a drive to Pueblo two separate weekends. The first was in October, just Jeff and I, to check out the town. It was just a day trip with about a 2 hour drive south of Denver. Pueblo's population is around 160,000 (the 9th largest city in Colorado) so it's not a small town but does have a downtown that has that small town appeal. We spent most of our time in the downtown area. Downtown Pueblo has some unique street art with some older style buildings that add character to it. We stopped in at Bingo Burger for some lunch and sat on the patio. We like to find places that are unique to the towns and not just chain restaurants. ... read more

North America » United States » Colorado October 9th 2017

Winter Wonderland Colorado Style On October 9th we received our first accumulative snowfall in Denver. We awoke to a white blanket covering the ground, trees and mountains. It was a pretty sight to see. Nice big snowflakes. The wet heavy kind, perfect for snowball and snowman making but harsh on the trees. It was a pretty heavy snowfall in the morning hours. It looked like a picture from a Christmas card, very pretty. I lit a few candles and enjoyed the beautiful view from my tall windows in the apartment. Throughout the day the snow tapered off and the sun started peeking out. As the suns heat radiated from the sky, the snow began to melt. Later that afternoon I couldn't help but head outside for a walk to enjoy the new fallen snow on the ... read more

Leaf Peeping at Kenosha Pass After waiting for the rain to stop which lasted about a week, we finally got out to see some fall colors in Colorado. One of the top places for fall colors on my web searches was Kenosha Pass. We also chose this destination because it was fairly close (just over an hour away). Our drive to Kenosha Pass took us down 470 and then to 285 through the towns of Conifer, Pine and Bailey. It was a nice drive with a little congestion when the highway reduced down to one lane. Most of the color you saw was green and yellow. The Aspen trees were producing a vibrant yellow in some areas. Arriving at the pass there were cars everywhere parked along the road. We decided to avoid this congestion and ... read more
