One of our favorites
We love Morocco. Thanks for the memories. I love to barter and I'm a master. I did very well in Morocco. They told me I bargain like a Berber. Your taxi experience sounds fun. Life on the road is full of excitement. I hope you saw Jemma el Fna square is an interesting place at night. A unique carnival as you say.

Favorites...
I hope it turns out to be one of ours. We read your blogs of Morocco before we came. It sounded like you had fun. We got sunglasses that started at 40 dollars for 6 dollars. But we bought the same ones for 4 dollars in Thailand, so I think they do alright even when you bargain well. Thanks for commenting and reading!

Morocco - thanks for bringing back memories
Your blog brings back memories from when we went to Morocco a couple of years ago. Our trip began badly and we thought for a while that it was jinxed in some way. But as soon as we left the airport things changed and we had a wonderful time. /Ake

Wonderful...
I'm sure in the end we will have a good trip. Morocco is very interesting and has a lot of things to interest any traveler. Wish us luck! Thanks for the support and nice comments, Ake!

Loved this blog...
...and the title! It's indeed a fine line between being alert and aware, but not crossing over into paranoid-land. Hope the rest of your trip goes well :)

Paranoid....
I guess the answer is just keep a good hold on your stuff and barge in. We spent an enjoyable day lost in the market yesterday and it wasn't too bad. Thanks for reading and the nice compliments. We definitely need the encouragement!

Amazing photographs...and the stories to go with them!
The quality of your photos still continues to blow me away. I want to gaze at a mosque, go out in a fishing boat, have tea with you and Nanci in a medina. Thanks so much for sharing with us arm-chair travelers! And continue the battle to let go of the dread! xoxo Jane

Thanks for Commenting
Thanks for your nice comments. We're only halfway through Morocco, and it doesn't look like it's going to get any easier. Thanks again for your comment! Nanci and David

Balconies of Kotor
When we walked around in central Kotor we where surprised over the many balconies there. We ended up making a blog entry with only photos of various balconies. I thought it came out pretty good... / Ake

Balconies...
Hey, Ake. I had to look back and find your "Balconies of Kotor" blog. I did see some nice ones, especially on some of the older buildings. We had a nice, quiet time in Kotor. Thanks for reading and commenting. We appreciate it!

Kotor Sunset

Montenegro
We want to quit our jobs again and travel to the places you have been in the past few months. Those childhood memories are wonderful and those atlases planted the travel seeds. I have so many visions in my heads about good times sitting in the den at home looking at the National Geographic shiny photos and staring in wonder. We love that time just before sunset when the light dances. Patience is a virtue and your photos show your attention to the art. Happy 2017.

Montenegro....
Ah, the shiny pages of National Geographic and Old Atlases. Such was the childhood before video games and 500 channels of cable television. Yes, please leave those jobs and come out to play! We'll save a sunset for you! Happy 2017 to you also. I can't wait to see where it takes us.....

Kotor Nights

So inspiring!
You have massively inspired me to both look at internet photo travel sites and to carry my camera more often. Generally, water and a book seem heavy enough, but I do love to look and frame a scene in my fingers and remember that it would have been good with a camera. Thus, when I get a good shot, it's luck (much as is my life). But I so appreciate your lessons of a more planned and thoughtful life. I also loved both Kotor and the mountain towns above it. I am so excited to read of your next blog to this 'magical destination.' I love the way you travel, photograph and write!

Inspiration...
Carrying our camera has taken us to lots of places we wouldn't have otherwise gotten too. Since we have stopped buying souvenirs the photos are our only mementos we have from the places we have been. Your photos are excellent and show a great eye. For inspiration check out the website 500px. It is one of our favorites. Thanks for commenting, Tara and Happy New Year!

Chasing Pictures
I know the feeling David. When one starts to have an eye for a well composed shot, one's eye can change from casual to eager, from scanning to searching, from restive to chasing. Is the perfect shot around the corner? The reward is there are many perfect shots and they all await the eye of the beholder. All they need is attendance and intention. I love this shot...a moment of silence caught in a moment of time...special memories only photos can revive.

Chasing...
We spend a lot of time finding the location of iconic shots we have seen on photo websites. It often leads us to experiences we otherwise would not have found. Plus we see a lot of nice sunsets! Thanks for commenting, Dave!

I loved Kotor...
Spending more time there and less time in Dubrovnik. I didn't try to climb the steps for that perfect picture, however. I will just have to look at yours. I also dream of traveling via maps. So you are off to your next destination. With it being cold above the Tropic of Cancer, or is it Capricorn, I'm guessing you will head south to somewhere warmer. I look forward to following you wherever you go.

Kotor...
I don't blame you for skipping the steps! They were really hard and I can't imagine doing them in summer when it is hot. We are staying north of the Tropic of Cancer, but just barely. Europe is getting cold! Thanks so much for reading and commenting, Bob. We appreciate it!

Great writers like you pull us into the story
I felt like we were experiencing the joys of Dubrovnik with you. What a wonderful time of year to explore. History and holiday woven into this outstanding blog inviting us to enjoy the medieval magic by the sea. Happy holidays to world travelers.

Writers....
Thank you for the kind words and holiday wishes. Dubrovnik was gorgeous and even though a little off season, we enjoyed our time there. We hope you have a wonderful holiday season and good start to the new year. We will be starting ours on a new continent. Wish us luck. Thanks so much for reading and commenting, it means a lot to us!

Old City Nights

Such evocative words and photos!
Surely Dubrovnik is one of the most beautiful cities in the world, and you two have captured it perfectly. Brilliant, of course, to go after the madness of the tourist season when you could properly feel and see the city. The winter festival and the frequent entertainment aimed more at the residents and you few tourists sounds lovely. I wonder where you will be for Christmas and New Years?

Thanks!
We found Dubrovnik to be one of the prettier places we have been. Dubrovnik was originally thought of as a Winter destination many years ago. Because of the very nice weather, we think November was a great time to go. We passed through in August and it was REALLY hot and we thought this was so much more pleasant. You do have to miss the beach though! Thank you for reading and commenting. We always appreciate your support.

Thank you
As always, I love taking this trip through your writing and pictures. All so wonderful.

Thank you, Maudie for travelling along with us! We are so happy you enjoyed the pictures. Dubrovnik is gorgeous and we are happy we had a chance to visit. We are already off in our next country. Thanks so much for commenting and following our journey!
