What goes around...? Wasn't firefighting what you were hoping to do at the start of your Americorp adventure almost two years ago? No doubt, you are great at what you are doing and leaving a lasting message with each of your 'children'. I applaud your embracing each and every experience with enthusiasm. Can't wait to see you - can we do mom and daughter coffee?
Congratulations on your new leadership roleYou'll be great! I'm so proud of your willingness to stand up and do the uncomfortable, knowing its the right thing to do. May the Lord bless you.
about time It's about time you sent another blog! I missed them. Are you scolded enough now? It is so interesting hearing of your activities. Did you ever think you would be doing this kind of thing? All the more power to you. I'm sure proud of you.
Love, Other Mother
Where's my little girl? Team leader, chainsaws, firefighting? What an education in life. I never had any doubt that you'd do anything less than meet the challenge and succeed. I can just picture how beautiful it is up there. I'm sure you're taking lots of pictures (I hope). Enjoy the experience and be safe while doing so. I keep getting more and more proud of you. Miss you and love you and looking forward to your visit home.

Miss ya You just left and I miss you already. Where'd the month go? Now it's time to begin your new journey and new experiences. Cherish each day and pass on your wisdom to those who are new to the program. You're no longer a rookie, but a seasoned veteran of Americorps. Let your light shine.
Love ya sweetie,
Pops
Thoughts and prayers are with you Our thoughts and prayers are with you as you start your new/old adventure. Some if familiar, some will be foreign. They say a change is as good as a rest, but I don't think you will be resting much. It was great to see you even briefly. Who has the cookie?
Love, Other Mom
and Your off again! It was wonderful to have you back even if it was a few short weeks. It gets harder and harder each time you leave because I know that someday in the near future you will have a place of your own to call home. I just hope it is not too far away. Have another incredible 10 months as you add another notch to your belt of experiences. Love you and miss you already!. Thank you God for cell phones!... Love, Mommy
Nicki, you are very insightful. You certainly have been on many journeys in a short time. I think you are very brave to give so much of yourself to those who need it and those who help support you. I think you know yourself and what you are capable of in a way that not many of us know ourselves, and that understanding makes you wiser far beyond your years. I wish you much luck and happiness in Sacramento. And a good tan! Miss you!

thanks for the memories Hi Nikky,
Change has been one of the hardest things for me. Every year as Kate and Jon grew up, new changes. Different schools, jobs, family, births, deaths, marriages. Katie visits and leaves, Jon's gone again. The only constant is change and the pings to the heart that come with it. And the knowledge that God is in control of all of it, if we invite Him to be. So, each ping and pain brings reassurance that God loves me and will forever and ever. Thanks for the updates in your life. I wish you all the success and happiness that your heart can hold. Love, Lynn Gerlach
congrats We are very happy for you regarding your new job. Congratulations for being selected. It will be another challenge in your life and we know you will do a fine job of it. We've been happy that you and Sandra are in the same area now and look forward to seeing you soon on our front doorstep (we have a new door so don't let that throw you, haha) Love, Other Mom
I'm proud of you Nicole, It has been amazing to read your blog over the past year. I am amazed and proud of you for all the wonderful and selfless things you have done with your young life! I wish you the best during the next chapter of your life and look forward to more blogs! God Bless You!! Penny
Proud of you! It has been a great 10 months of hearing from you and reading your blogs and even catching up in London. As much as your parents would love to have you home "bumming" off of us, I am delighted that you will have yet another wonderful adventure with Americorp next year especially since your other option as you were hinting at was moving to Australia. I trust in God's plan for you Jer. 29:11 and I will look forward to having you home for the summer, then visiting you in Sacramento and of course reading your enlightening blogs throughout next year. With facebook, blogs, IM, email, instant messaging and text messages etc. I am confident that team Gold 4 will be friends forever and will continue to build wonderful relationships over the years to come. So it's not "goodbye" it is "till we communicate again". The bond you built will be eternal! That's just the way it is with "families"! Love, Mom
Challenge It definitely sounds like a challenging job - - - not that the others weren't - but this one takes a lot of physical as well as emotional and spiritual strength. Please know my prayers are with you as they always have been! Hurry home and we'll hafta hit some of the local festivals here! Say HEY to SH for me, too! Hugs and love, GB
Wow! Wow! Although each day is super long and very demanding, you will never forget this experiance! It sounds like it has already opened your eyes and your heart. I'm sure it will give you so much repsect and appreication for life. I'm kinda jelous (sort of. LOL) Hey, and look at it this way, if you can make it through this...you can make it through anything. Love and miss! Say hello to the team and the campers for me. Talk to you soon. :)
PS- Enjoy everything SLC has to offer. You never know when you will be living there again. Soak it all up! You are so lucky to have those beautiful mountians and red rocks in your backyard.
rewarding It sounds like you have a very challenging - and rewarding- last spike. Yes, the abilities we take for granted. I know they will appreciate your efforts and you and they will grow in a positive way from this experience. God does work in ways that we might not choose for ourselves and you will reap the benefits of this.
Sandra is so excited also. I hear there are Starbucks locations there!!! Love, Other Mother
perseverance ... but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.....Romans 5:1-5....May the Love of God give you strength to persevere ...Lots of Love, Mom
Lessons Learned You are wise to make the best of the stuff life throws at you, but somehow I think that the sheriff must have had a grouch pill in his oatmeal that morning. Oh well, you found the blessing in NOT getting ticketed and kept the adventure going. I think that you are a great candidate for "The Amazing Race" or "The Mole" that make you travel, figure out clues and fend for yourself; you are in prime mental and physical condition! Enjoy.
You make a difference Nicki, No matter where you are or what your doing I can see you are impacting the community around you. Your life is changing lives. I can't wait to see how the Lord will direct you after these incredible experiences. I am praying for you. Love, Aunt Nettie
