Every day while traveling we have to make plenty of decisions and yes sometimes these decisions are not always the right ones. However the most important decision we make and take the most time deciding, is where are we going to eat. The biggest factor in this decision is people, are there people eating in the restaurant and are they local people. Secondly can we see the kitchen, if we can then it's a good sign and if there's local people eating there, then decision made. The thought process behind these decisions has resulted in us enjoying some fantastic and delicious food, none more so than Lil' Bites in Placencia, Belize. This 4 metre square wooden shack painted green and white served some of the best food we have ever tasted. Behind the small opening is ... read more

Eat, sleep, sunbathe, repeat.........eat, sleep, sunbathe, repeat..........sounds like a Fatboy slim tune. The last couple of days has been exactly that but it really makes a change to the relentless, sometimes brutal but always adventurous travelling we do. A good example of one of our tiring but very enjoyable travelling days has to be the journey from San Cristobal (Mexico) to Huehue in Guatemala. Hola, Tonight we'll lay our heads down in Hotel Centra, Ocosingo, Mexico, which is the first place in two weeks that is a little off the beaten track. The two weeks in Mexico have not disappointed us, however being off the tourist route today has been fantastic. Ocosingo is a halfway point between Palenque and San Cristobal at about 110 kms south from Palenque. The journey in the collectivo (Toyota Hi Ace that seats up to around 17 people) took about 2 1/2 hourson winding roads through lush green jungle clad hills/mountains....... fabulous. Within an hour of arriving in Ocosingo we were heading 12kms on another collectivo to the Mayan ruins off Tonina. This is the fourth Mayan ruins site we have visited and throughly enjoyed walking to the top of the 71 metre high pyramid. ... read more

From walking on snow at -25c to walking on sand with +25c. Fifth and last day in Miami and at last the fuzzy feeling of jet lag has gone. While our body clocks have been adjusting we've managed to enjoy the art deco festival, lots of tasty food, walks on the beach and got round to watching Star Wars. ... read more
