Hola,

Tonight we'll lay our heads down in Hotel Centra, Ocosingo, Mexico, which is the first place in two weeks that is a little off the beaten track. The two weeks in Mexico have not disappointed us, however being off the tourist route today has been fantastic. Ocosingo is a halfway point between Palenque and San Cristobal at about 110 kms south from Palenque. The journey in the collectivo (Toyota Hi Ace that seats up to around 17 people) took about 2 1/2 hourson winding roads through lush green jungle clad hills/mountains....... fabulous. Within an hour of arriving in Ocosingo we were heading 12kms on another collectivo to the Mayan ruins off Tonina. This is the fourth Mayan ruins site we have visited and throughly enjoyed walking to the top of the 71 metre high pyramid.

Chichen Itza was our first ever visit to a Mayan ruin but also very special to us as this is one of the seven wonders of the new world, which means we have now visited all seven. If you know all the seven wonders of the new world, then send answers on a postcard to #stopbraggingozzy.

Oth great places we have visited include the colonial towns/citys of Valladolid, Izamal, Merida and Campeche. The Mayan ruins of Palenque are stunning partly because they are nestled in a hilly area surrounded by thick jungle and in my opinion should have been voted a seventh wonder of the new world.

At least so far we are still enjoying the food that Mexico has to offer. Although the flavours and ingredients are pretty much the same (corn/maize, tomatoes, guacamol, chillies, etc..) each region seems to mix it up a little different.

It won't be long before these baggy trekking trousers of mine no longer require a belt to keep them from falling down.

Next stop San Cristobal.

Well Jeal
Hi guys, fantastic pics, reminds me of the time we spent there a few years ago with amy and tom, a memorable trip. I remember going on a trip into one of the rain forests, climbing down into a cavern and scraping off a jetty into the water, mmm not a good idea, looked like i'd been clawed by a lion. Top that off with 53 mozzie bites on my back, it looked like stevie wonders braille book, ahhh happy memories. Seriously one of the best, loved it. Have a fantastic time. Stay safe.xxx
