Memories Michelle I have very happy memories of our visit to Hawaii in 1987, oh so long ago. Bob and I revisited Honolulu about 8 years ago and like you felt that Honolulu has been a bit spoilt by "progress". We went back to Hanauma Bay last time and snorkelled, a promise we had made to ourselves 30 years ago. Enjoy the rest of your adventures xx
Great photos Hawaii is beautiful. Great to follow in the footsteps of Captain Cook one of the greatest explorers. He was born in Great Ayton near our home in North Yorkshire and apprenticed in Whitby.
Hawsi It certainly is beautiful from the air. Gorgeous. I've heard that before from family and friends but I've never been there. Enjoy all your tripping around.
Cheers
Margaret. ?Xx
Flying High How exciting! I would think the highlight of your trip? After Michael's birthday bash, of course. Flying high, looking down on your surroundings. There's nothing better. The nearest I've done was in a micro light craft. Strapped behind and on top of what felt like a garden mower engine. Flying from north Derby over the Derbyshire Peaks passing over Chatsworth House. Scary but fantastic. Flying over Hawaii Island must have been mega fantastic.
Will Visit Soon Hawaii Yes, Hawaii Island is the best place to visit and especially in the Summer. Recently I had been to North America by booking a yacht from Med Waves Charters. The trip was awesome but unfortunately, I can’t visit this beautiful place. Now I am looking forward to visiting Kaua'i very soon with my friends.
Hiring a driver How did you arrange to hire a driver to get you from Bogota to Villa de Leyva? And do you mind telling me what that cost? I am going to Colombia in a week and am considering doing the same.
Thanls.
Ron
Drive in Colombia Our Colombian friends organised it all for us. I think you'll find further details in earlier replies to others who asked the same question. As to the cost, it was a few years ago and I've actually forgotten what we were charged. I trust you'll enjoy visiting Colombia as much as we did!
Congratulations Sappy was with us in 2007 so it was nine years ago. My how time flies! We're now back from the wedding but we'll be seeing Sappy again tomorrow so I'll pass on your good wishes. M xx
Villa de leyva Dear Both, I am planning my trip to Columbia - most is all set except my transport from Bogota to Villa de Leyva- regarding a private hire- was it expensive? how did you go about finding the driver? did he speak English? return trip back to Bogota did you use a driver or the bus. I think this is a better idea than the bus. do you have information on the best bus to use if this did not work out. I look forward to hearing from you and lots of fun amazing travels ahead. Lorraine
Kookaburras What a welcome home. I read; don't know where or when, the kookaburra is related to the kingfisher? They certainly have similarities, except for that squawk!
"The pain of parting is nothing to the joy of meeting again" ( Charles Dickens) Ah Michelle - I'm getting to understand that "sweet sorrow" feeling. Sorry we missed you this time in the UK but happy you had such a great trip ! Love Rachel x
Parting is such sweet sorrow It's true what Charles Dickens said - thanks for finding a suitable quote. We're really looking forward to meeting you again in the flesh. Love to all, M xx
Good visit Pleased you enjoyed your hols in Europe. Denmark looks a good place to visit and not so far for us in the UK. Hope you are settled back in Sydney and getting over the jet lag!
Good visit indeed! You're obviously back from your cruise which I've no doubt you enjoyed. Do let me know when you decide to go to CPH as you must meet up with Katherine and the gang! M xx
I have been on a couple of weeks 'Granny Duties' in Spain with my ten year old grandson - just the two of us together - jumping waves, swimming, beach games, catching crabs, midnight strolls along the promenade with all the other Spanish people in our tiny Not sure that I am up to this IT/social media stuff. Just realised that I put the gist of my response in the title space. Duh! All good wishes and look forward to further blogs. Maggie
We started travelblogging in 2008 when, with the parenting responsibilities of six children long-gone, we (Michelle & Kevin) left home for a three months adventure during which time we spent some of the kids inheritance! Having always loved traveling, prior to our three months away six weeks has been the longest period we've been overseas and that was mostly with kids in tow. Now officially retired (well sort of) I think we'll be taking up this traveling lark with a vengeance! ... full info
