Perfection upon perfection!
As usual, your quotes are great, and this time, your decision even more fabulous! Wow, to have a home in the Himalayas--a dream come true. The views and glassed in porches are phenomenal, and how sweet to have friends like Rana and Rockie. I read the comment by Annette, looked up Wambie Lagoon, and saw that it was in Oz. If you have property there that is financing this dream, I'm even more in awe. How lovely that you have to leave to travel every so many months to renew your stay in paradise. No getting stuck or complacent with your life in paradise--OMG--you're living the dream. Congrats!

Wambie Lagoon
Well you did well if you found this using the slang... it's actually Wamberal Lagoon in Wamberal NSW.... Wambie is the local tag..... And yes I am pretty lucky to have this set-up. It is also a very gorgeous place... across the road from the lagoon which goes into the sea... 10 minutes walk to a very special and often quite empty beach. As for living the dream...... back at ya..... our dreams, our life, this dream, this life.... now. To have dreams distant from now is evading the reality no? Living dreams is truth to self.... but I am very aware that luck and good fortune are at play ..... so I am just grateful as I am sure you are too on your wonderful travels. Om Shanti

Congratulations!
I'm very happy for you (and me because I'd love to visit you). It looks and sounds amazing. Good decision Paul. Just one thing......does Rockey know he is doing business with a convicted criminal? Just saying.

Rockey's Winter Den at other end of house

From one end of the world to another
Rocky's den house in the mountains subsidized by your house by Wambie Lagoon. There's a very nice synchronicity about that. Can you live there in a version of permanency by just crossing borders or going to visit people in Turkey and renewing Visa when you return. My thoughts and best wishes, a

You are not alone
We are sending you some positive energy. Hope you can spend some time today meditating and drinking tea. I'm fortunate not to have struggled with depression but when we are on long trips or sabbaticals we get worn out- socially, physically, mentally, truly sensory overload. We've learned we have to stay in one place for a length of time (which we know you do). This helps us pull out of it. We sit for a few days, drink a glass of tea, wine, beer and read a book. Shut the world out and enjoy the quiet. Traveling is amazing but you can only absorb so much at a time. Glad you found the pool that shocked you back into the here and now. Happier times are ahead. It is good you know yourself well enough to move past the dark times.

thanks guys
I feel like you guys are guardian angels looking over me.... nice

A new day
Like Tara I loved the Buddhist quote - it's one I haven't heard before. I also like "tomorrow is a new day". It's helpful to find these little mantras for "doona days". Or "duvet days" as us NZers would call it!

Daily aspirations
That pledge is one of four (Buddhist stuff is often in rounds of 4 it seems :) ). They are aspirational of course.... 1. Though there are many beings I will save them all; 2. Though I have many negative thoughts I will turn them all around; 3. Though the dharma (Buddhist way based on impermanence and 'just this') is deep, I will immerse myself fully; and 4. Though the road is long I will walk it all. So it goes.... we can but be on the path! Any travel plans?

Everything passes
My dear Paul It is so true - and old friend of mine once said 'if it is really bad - it will pass' likewise 'if it is really good it will pass'...........'so learn to live in the now'!!!! Easier said than done, but I am adopting some of your strategies and yep, walking through that divine environment would do it. I need to get off this rock and travel. Best hugs Marguerite

Pool of renewal

Lucky you in fantastically peaceful environments
Walking in nature has always been my cure for everything, and I do it daily as a preventative. Loved your Buddhist quote and used it today as I walked through noisy, crowded streets to get to my tranquil park. Traffic and peace, negative thoughts, monkey mind and bliss--like you said, all a part of life. Glad you made it through.

your pics
Finally your pics did load... WOW.... so so so nice.... And here too (though not Condors) are huge eagle hawks up around the 3,000 mtr mark... when I climb high they invariable glide past close enough to wink at..... "Bright the Hawks Flight on Empty Sky"

Thanks for sharing your inner demon of depression...
my son also fights his...low serotonin levels in the brain, etc. He's off meds now...frenetic activity and lots of work in law school keep him preoccupied. As you say, a balance of "under the dooma" and activity help.

the journey
having seen the FB pic days ago I found myself reflecting on your condition and chatted with Ray about how it is for you ... Belonging in this never ending journey across fields, streams and mountains; across borders, cities and towns... And having a finely tuned understanding of doona days I can 'resemble' your waking up dark, straying to nature for solace and returning to cook for your friends... the perfect end to a challenging internal day... ps I hate autocorrect ... but I love you ? wishing you a light awakening tomorrow pps Blake turns 40 in 2 days xx

Love the title
Vibrant, unpredictable and real is a great way to see the world. One pleasant surprise or another. Enjoy hanging out for a month. Slowing down is a great time. My brother used to own a Royal Enfield. Enjoyed the blog.

The view over the top of Bala looking north

A spot of paradise
As usual, I love your quotes and your going the extra mile/km to see high mountains. How lovely to live in a place where you are posed such real questions in your daily meandering. That Kirri Ganga and gorge sound magical. What a fabulous spot you've found!
10th October 2014

I am I said :)
Now that question has got me thinking although I suspect it is meant to make one think............I look forward to you future conversations with this baba. I hugs!!!

Good one
Another good one. Always enjoy your blogs.

This is certainly not the crowded India I'd imagined, except the lovely people who helped you and Art are exactly how I imagined India. You inspired me to look up Rewalsar and Jibhi, which turn out to be places I can easily imagine living--what peaceful paradises and perfect places for presence! I read a blogger on Jibhi who said that someone named Rana knew and had mapped fab places to hike/explore. Enjoy your lovely stay!
5th October 2014

Rana and Jibhi
Ha.... Rana is the man who owns the guest house and cottages and house on the mountain where I stay.... And yes, he knows a lot about the surrounds (well even I do now after 6 times here). His son also runs treks into the Great Himalayan National Park- customised to suit all. Whenever you want to come here I will put you in touch. Meanwhile go to kshatra.com . ciao

Loving the detail. I read every word, since it's the closest I'll ever get to travelling in these countries. Jane
