Utah Trip Summer 2014 Day 1 (Aug 30th) We woke up at 4am for an early flight. We had a 2 hour delay in Atlanta, but still made it to Salt Lake City by 12:30pm. We picked up our rental car and Rob took us to see some of his old stomping grounds in SLC. We stopped by one of the houses he stayed at while in college and the woman who now owns it came out and talked to us. She was really cool. Quick comment on the flight: It was great. We were just us in two side seats and they had video consoles in every seat back with free in flight movies, games and other cool stuff. It passed quickly as we watched Godzilla. Anyway, we went to several of his old apartments ... read more

Mexico Vacation March 2014 Day 1 (March 8th) Flight was good. We got chocolates at the Charlotte Airport on our layover there, then on to Cancun. We were transferred to Akumal Beach Resort in Akumal where our room was on the 3rd floor of Building 6. Awesome view from our balcony, overlooking the ocean. They sent Champagne to our room the first night. We drank it all and had a very nice evening. Day 2 (March 9th) We snorkeled in the Bay just in front of the resort, it was very nice. Afterwards, we swam in the pool, although it was a bit on the cool side. We decided to nap in the hammocks instead. We set up an excursion through AllTourNative tours for Tuesday, then walked over to Akumal to set up dives for the ... read more

Trip to Destin June/July 2013 Day 1 (June 29th) We left the house at 0730 and drove a very LONG 12 hours to get there, due to traffic. We went and checked out our condo, which was really nice, then did some grocery shopping. When we got back, Rob and I took Laurel to the beach, her first time to see any ocean. She loved it. Then we came back to the condo to swim. We went to bed around midnight. Day 2 (June 30th) I woke up around 0530, showered and went down to the beach. I walked the beach and took pictures. After Mom got ready, mom and I went to Wal-Mart while Rob and Laurel went to the beach. I joined them when I got back and we swam in the ocean until ... read more

Trip to Oregon on May 2013 (Honeymoon trip) Day 1 (May 25th) We left Knoxville at 1240. We had a very long flight to Oregon that included long layovers. But had some awesome chocolates at the Charlotte Airport. We didn't get to the hotel in Medford until 1am, but we did not have any trouble checking in. Day 2 (May 26th) We got up none too early, but still early enough to eat breakfast at the hotel. We went and met Doug at their house and saw it. Doug took us to the Train Park. It was really cute, a lot of garden sized trains and great layouts. We got to the church for our Oregon reception a little early at 1pm. Our immediate family all came a little early so that we could take family ... read more

Mexico Trip October 2012 (First trip with Rob) Day 1 We headed to Atlanta at 0900 and had a nice drive down. Since we had our dive gear with us, upgrading to first class was not too much more, so we decided to do that and it was quite fun. We arrived to a crowded (as usual) airport in Cancun. The line for customs and immigration was really long. We had another long wait outside the airport for the shuttle to car rental place. There was yet another long delay there as they put $5000 hold on my credit card, prompting me to have to call Bank of America to let them know that it was indeed me in Mexico getting a car. I will never use EZ Rental again. I was very stressed about the ... read more

Oregon Trip 2011 Day 1 We left the house at 0600 and ate breakfast at Shoney's before heading to Nashville. After dropping off the car at Alexis Inn and Suites and after Mom was finally able to get up into the shuttle van (lol), we were off. The flights were pleasant. I listed to music and watched videos on my Zune. I suspended my diet for this trip, so I ate good on this day. We had Quizno's for lunch, I had chicken Cabonara and it was delicious. We had Denny's for dinner and I discovered blueberry and white chocolate pancake puppies. They were to die for. So good. We drove down the I-5 from Portland. I HAD to stop at Rice Hill for ice cream at the famous road side spot, of course. It was ... read more

Destin Vacation (Just me and Mom) June/July 2010 Day 1 Got up at 0410 and drove down using our GPS. Ate at Shoney's for breakfast before leaving. We got to Destin around 1400. We felt so good that we went grocery shopping. We stopped by our beach for a few minutes to check it out and so I could get my feet in the sand. It was lovely, and there was no oil at all and lots of people. (Note: this vacation was just after the BP oil rig exploded in the Gulf and there was a lot of oil on beaches in neighboring states.) The sky was overcast. We went to eat at the Melting Pot where we paid a lot of money to slowly cook our own food. It was good though and desert ... read more

Hawaii with Connie McGhee May 2008 Day 1 We stayed in a decent resort on the beach and near a little touristy retail area, just north of Lihue. The first day we decided to go to Opaeka'a falls and on up to Waimea Canyon. We met a nice couple at the canyon named Bill and Michelle. The canyon was beautiful. It's called the Grand Canyon of the Pacific, but I thought the lush greenery along with the red canyon made it even more beautiful. It was so pretty. Driving to the waterfall at Opaeka's I was amazed at all the chickens. There were chickens everywhere! Later that day, we walked to the retail area and met a woman named Althea, our tour guide extraordinaire, that worked for a time share next to our resort. She drew ... read more
