wales or Santorini just back from wales and the longest period without tinternet for years ! cold turkey or what ?...how sad :) Fantastic to read you're still having a belter of a trip, although it doesn't look as though you've been too prolific on the old blog-front....?!
Continue to have a fab time and stay safe...
Dickon
ps you obviously had the same donkey as me ! :)
08.08.08 Rogers 51st and he's very chuffed as he played golf with Graham and won - watch out Karl he's improving. Plan today was to celebrate the birthday and launch of the new 'outdoor entertainment area' - bet you cant wait - but its goig to rain later so we might go and see Kung Fu Panda instead. Love the photos Santorini looks fab and so does Onita. xxxx
Santorini sunset We had 10 minutes on Santorini, including the sunset, last Wednesday thanks to BBC2 - 'Francesco's Mediterranean Voyage' - excellent! Not quite the same as being there yourself, we guess. Our love to you all
Meeting in October Hi guys, lovely pics of Santorini - looks like you made a good choice to go there!
Just called Lynne to confirm that we'll be seeing you all on October 4 and 5 for Lynne's 70th birthday do. Looks like we will be coming with the car from Hook of Holland to Harwich on Thursday night, then leaving early Monday morning. Hope the fact that we'll be in the car (7-seater) will help with the logistics.
Will also be informing Jon tomorrow via e-mail so we can work things out.
All the best, have a great time in Paleo, give my love to Van and Fifi whatever happens !!!!!
Missing the river! What a shame! You missed what is generically known as a SPUNKER.
The bridge at the end of the gorge is at
39º 19' 20.57" N 20º 36' 30.01" E
according to Google Earth, should you wish to try again some day!
Other than that, are you sure you went to Messolongi and then all the way back to Parga? If so, no wonder you missed the Acheron ;-)))
Carry on with your fabulous adventures and have a WONDERFUL TIME!
From Rick, who is already missing Greece after only a week at home!
Yay! Glad to hear you're feeling so good Onita, it must be all that sunshine and ice-cream. Can you get that on the NHS?
You'll be glad to know it is horribly crap and wet here and everyone is moaning about the weather - do we actually live in Africa - or are we still in Europe?
It's wonderful to read your journal - although I'm missing your mental moments that Corrina was talking about. Is there a hidden section that no-one has told me about?
So cool to follow the trip:-)

PS Was that really Antonello - it was it a younger Jack Nicholson?
Being on time for frerries .... Not like us then! Having booked the ferry with a 17:00 departure, I received the tickets and completely failed to look at them while planning the journey down. Just before we left Modena with a relatively comfortable travel cushion for the permanent traffic jam around Bologna, I looked at the tickets to find out to my dismay that departure was 15:00. Ooops!
The traffic jam around Bologna was bigger than ever, so we took the same detour we took last year to avoid it down to Imola only to find that the traffic was still moving at around 5 miles an hour on the motorway. This left us with no alternative but to follow the old main road all the way down to Rimini, where luckily the traffic was running normally. We made it to Ancona just in time to be shown on to the ferry and watch several people arrive even later than us. The girls and Stephie have still not forgiven me.
Fitness & Health Great to hear you are feeling so well honey. And don't get hung up on the skinniness - Kate Moss is seething ;-)
Wonderful to hear you are so fit... you can join me in triathlon when you get back OK ? That's a date right?! :-)
Love ya!!!!

SO COOL! SOOOO cool to hear you're all doing so well and having such fun!
Photos are amazing - please send us some more! - If you have time between all that beer, driving and sight seeing! Oh, I forgot the relaxing in the sun bit too! :-)
Have fun!

Good on you Hi O,
We're really happy you're felling fit. Keep it up and make sure that Karl caters to your every whim.
But seriously, all of you have a great time in Italy and Greece and wherever else you go.
Lots of love, P + L
What news! That's got to be the best news I can ever remember hearing. And someone needs to keep that brother of mine off his backside after all that gelato and beer.
I'll print this off for Karen (I don't think she does blogs, and she's too busy at work) - she'll be overjoyed.
I printed the lot off on friday for her, then had to confiscate the phone before she booked ferry tickets for us to do the same.
If you speak to Antonello again - big hugs from me.
Joy Hi Guys,
We are living so vicariously through your blog. Sheer pleasure and joy at the time you are having together and total envy at Italy...how far away it seems from Africa now. Life should be all about enjoying it moment by moment and it seems to me that your "window of opportunity" is making sure you do just that! Keep going and sending us fantastic mental moments. Thanks and much love, Corrina.
Well done Jay! Being sick on hols ain't much fun -- glad he's doing better. I seem to remember two days in Inverness hospital when the chemist didn't work -- Becca was 5-ish. Her memory of it... Chris and Dad walking a safe distance behind sharing in slightly too loud a (deliebrate) stage whisper "Careful in case she blows..." :>)
Brilliant blog -- really enjoying following your travels!
nothing much changes Ah Heinerfest - how we miss it here! It doesn't seem to have changed much - I went 10 years in a row, and Bob and Gary were always there.
(And so were the grumpy Italian waiters)
Do you need a new memory card? I suppose you must have filled up your memory cards already as there's no more pics of your trip! I'm sure you can buy them - even in Italy:-)
Sounds like you're all having a great time - and we're enjoying following it.
We've been underwater here for a while now, but sun's out again at last!
Wish we were there too... Good thing I'm not in an open plan office. I've just caught up on the whole trip in one sitting, and there are tears streaming down my face. Of joy.
Reminds me of all the amazing (but penniless) trips we had to the same destination with Westwind, but how I'd love to do them all again with the children (and wife!), spending even longer sponging off Karl in Darmstadt.
Just can't wait to see you all in Mickey Rips or Vangeli's on the 7th.
Vicarious Holiday Time to update this blog !!! I´ve spent more time on it than you guys have !! Do you guys think your on holiday or something ? Two kids and a wife on tour and NO dog so no excuses. Hope your having a wonderful time but please dont spend too much money on my present.
Great to hear from you You revived happy memories of Rotherberg just 30 years ago - what a wonderful place! We found Colmberg on our map of Germany and will be following the whole trip avidly. May the force be with you -- many thanks.
Weather report FYI its rain rain rain here in Esher. The garden has been flooded twice this week already so you are really missing out on some classic British summer weather. Great blog, read it every day! Love to you all xxx The Newman family.
Brussels Ring Hi all. Was thinking hard of you and hoping to pass you on the Ring as I headed home at 23h45 Sat night after stuffing my face at a wedding reception and managing no less (and I think no more than) 5(!) glasses of wine (perhaps a good thing I didn't pass you on the Ring!!) Wonder if the receptionist was honest enough to leave you the little package I dropped off at the hotel earlier????!! Continue having fun - am enjoying your blog. xxx
