This might as well be an entirely different city than the Lima I was in last week. This is the new Lima, the Lima of international commerce, the wealthy Lima, the Lima of the few. Here, giant condo towers shoulder each other for prime, ocean-view space. (I must have passed 15 or 20 under construction) Here, Asian and Peruvian nannies stroll with the children of the wealthy in many lush, well tended parks. Here, you can purchase designer name merchandise. (And if you think your local SuperStore is big.....HA!) Here, the old colonial mansions sit in huge walled compounds, offering only a glimpse of their vast, vine & flower covered balconies.
