Keep blogging Kate Back in the states things have been really warm. I spent part of this week in Maine and it was 95 degrees on Wednesday! Things are cooling off, as a rain storm just passed by. I am attending a wedding tomorrow (Bancroft grad) Kristen Brownell, who is getting married in Worcester. I am not sure if you knew her at all, she graduated before you did. I love your blog!!! So happy you teaching is ging well. You were born to be a teacher!
Beeeeerrr So I was already like, "aw how fun" and then you mentioned a Chili beer and I just about lost my shit- so jealous! hs, sounds like you are having a great time so far!
hahah This is SO funny! I literally laughed the whole time. :) Hopefully your washing machine won't set your clothes on fire. When I used mine I just turned a random knob, and my clothes came out fine.
"Someone threw up and then they made it a language" is how I'm going to describe Hungarian from now on. Spot on.
Try buying the off-brand Nutella (hazelnut spread)! You might have to try out a couple, because some of the off-brands are nasty, but I found one that it actually better than real Nutella and only costs 350 forint a jar.
advice from your mom, totally unsolicited. The tube elevator looks very sketchy. Take the stairs. The Mocking Cow is actually Laughing Cow cheese, and it is sold here at Whole Foods and is very good. Ikea sells beds that might be better than foam and wood. They also sell non-old-lady comforters. Send me your address and i will send you nutella. love you!
Things I now know from Things I now Know: 1. Be wary of any dish that contains purple mushrooms. 2. Avoid escalators. 3. They have an Ikea in Budapest? 4. My daughter is an awesome writer and great picture-taker. 5. The grammar on the bottom picture of the ??? items is a bit questionable. 6. I hope there will be pictures tomorrow of the apartment, cleaned, before move-in :) 7. I can't wait to visit!!! xoxox
great post, love the changing of the cards :) Sounds like lots of busy days; perhaps the lack of sleep is due to going out until 3am? A comment only your mother can make. It will be fun to see you in November and have you show me around and hear you order more than goulash. Keep posting!
Love it!!! I am so glad that I was subscribed to your blog from way back when you were on your gap year. You described everything so perfectly that I felt like I was watching a movie!
giant beer..10/10 little disappointed that the guitar on the wall was a painted guitar, but I'm so excited for you! This will be such a great adventure.
Smang it, gurl. Smash and bang it. xooxooxox
Glad your safe and have found some new friends Such a great experience, Kate. I will follow all your entries. Will you be teaching at an American school? I bet you will pick up Hungarian in your time there. Will you eventually be living with a native family?? It's hot here in Maine ( I am not compaining though as the summer has been glorious.) I have spent a good part of the summer teaching new teachers of A.P. Biology- very devoted people!
LOVE this entry Glad you're all set; i'm at the cape and read your entry to owen and jeej--owen thinks the hostel room is "really cool". Have fun and keep posting. The dogs had a breakout today; dad said he got home and the screen on the back door was totally fallen down. Maggie was inside and Risky was out. Escape dogs! xoxox

Love dad
That is a wonderful tribute to you and to the camp. I think your Mom loved it also. It will be wonderful to hold onto to those hugs so you can feel free to give them. I send you my hug and good wishes for you on your next venture, college.
Much love Baba
My name is Kate, I'm 26 years old, and I graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder in fall of 2012. I have my teaching license through Colorado, and I spent 2 years in Hungary teaching grades 1-4. I spent all of my time off traveling around Europe.
I traveled for a year after high school as well, which is what all of my really old are from. Feel free to read and catch up! This blog is my primary way of staying in touch with people while I am away, but anyone is free (and encouraged) to read it.
I spent the summer of 2015 working at home to fund a trip around Southeast Asia, w... full info
