Be careful of the food! Try to eat things that you can peel, or food that is cooked throughly. Also, only bottled water and nothing from the tap. Check out your shadow at the equator ( it won't be very tall!) What an adventure! Keep up the journal and stay in touch!

The underwear and bra count is what gets me the most. You know what though, I'm not surprised. And besides, I think I've lived on that many pairs of underwear and bras just because I was too lazy to do anything differently for a week or so myself and I WASN'T on some life-changing South American excursion. So you'll be fine!
