Marbork and Poland I visited Marbork yesterday (25-6-07) and it was beautifull, had a good time. No english tour, but I was with a polish friend so that was okay. we went around in the castle without a group.
It was probably not 'Gott mit dich' "Gott mit dich" or "gut nicht mich", I still think he said the latter because of two reasons... 1) "mit" is always dative, the proper German would've been "Gott mit dir"; 2) he said "mich" and not "dich" and not "dir". (in short, it wasn't a moment of thank god but rather, phew, that was close!
The postcard Thanks for the postcard, I got it today. It's good to know that you rembered me : ) you should send your home address to me so I can send you one from Iceland. Tomorrow, I am going to learn how to cook Philipian food. My student from the Philipenes ig going to teach me, it'll be a private workshop. Today I went shopping for chinese noodles and stuff, and I also visited the Polish shop in Iceland. Bought frozen pirogi. Obsession, or what?

you break my heart I can't believe your bailing out on me. I am enjoying your blog so much and I would definately want to read about your non-travelling life.
Tell your mother that you have a fan in Iceland, I read your blog and probably some other people here, because I put your link on my website. You'll have to reconsider your decision.

Thanks and appreciation Judy, I've lived away from the SF bay area for about 4 years now. I never thought I could get away. Your adventure is of a different sort. I have sparingly commented because I too would be a cynic traveller wondering when the roller coaster ride is supposed to smooth out? Your efforts aren't in vain. I'd think plenty of us would agree you have done something on our 100 top things we'd like to do. Keep on trekking!!
It WAS very quaint and European They ate unpasterized cheese, drank red wine, kept a little vegetable garden out front... Everything going at 1/4 speed compared to back home... And the village is so small the lady and her husband drives to the next town to buy groceries.
Yeah, I thought that garnish was a bit odd... not exactly making the plate any more presentable!
Vala, I'm skipping Iceland this year. But I went back to the salt mine! I have to write about that when I get a chance again. I'm leaving Krakow today, checking email one last time in our usual internet cafe.
eat out in Kraków Did you sign the guestbook? We had dinner there when we were there in June (We signed it) and I tried out for traditional Polish courses. Remember, the sour sausage soup etc. Our service was a lot better than yours though. When are you going home? No Iceland this year or not?

This is for the general Audience Hi there! I am traveling with my Mother because of multiple reasons. 1. She is semi-retired and bored at home; 2. She is worried about me traveling by myself and wants to come along to make sure I am ok; and 3. Because she said she wanted to come and I can't say no. :-p
Yeah, that's what I keep telling myself! :-p nah, I know. I already feel like that about the earlier legs of the trip when I was miserable. How does that saying go?... this, too, shall pass...
One day when you look back on this whole experience it'd be just fun and laughs. You'll forget all about the skanky train station and looking for a bed at 9pm.
I'm back home Hello. I am back from Kraków, check my blog www.ismennt.is/not/gve/dagbok/blogger.html and click on myndir frá Kraków.
We had a wonderful time, missed you though. And guess what - I bought another pair of..... in Tesco. Your colour this time.
Take care

Hey Traveller!! Judy! Vala gave me the link to your blog, I've had a great time reading over the pages, it's good to know you're doing well! What great experiences you've had! I'm back on my homerock now (Shetland) and working for a few months before I return to Krakow for.. a year!! xx
Duh! Why didn't you just make stuff up? The point is to proof you understood German and can converse in it. You don't actually have to tell them where you were and what you were up to! Geeze. You could have probably just said, you are travelling and you enjoyed your and the weather is nice.
You be Calvin and I'll be Hobbes Luckily you weren't stuck in that little stand up closet!
I'm so claustrophobic. Calvin save me, pleaase! I'm stuck in the closet.
I had a much worse experience when visiting Dachau concentration camp. I met a man from my home town (huge coincidence, from a tiny town in the midwest) and he FLIRTED with me in the crematorium. I think I almost found his disrespect and disregard for what happened there to be more disturbing than knowing what happened there back then.
