Varkala Varkala is the only place in southern Kerala where cliffs are facing the Arabian Sea. It's a nice little place with a lot of tourism. All over the cliff are little shops, where people will say everytime you walk by "look my shop, look my shop". Even if it's the 10th time you walk by on the same day and said politely "No thank you" again and again! Of course we arrived in the dark to make it so much easier for us to find a place to stay! The first two nights we ended up in a crapy place. But we heard of an awesome little guesthouse "Skylark" run by this American lady named Faith and her Indian hubby Saji! Finally we found a place where we could relax. After talking to a few ... read more

Overnight bus to Hampi The travel from Panaji to Hampi started with a big bam!!! We (Josh) ordered/ asked for a rickshaw to the busstop around 19.15h and when we showed up not one rickshaw at the rickshaw stop!! Non, nada, nobody! With all our gear on our back we started to run direction private busses in the dark and it was pouring down.. Not really knowing exactly where we had to go!! But that was not all! I (ariska) already had to pee before we left and I was thinking? Overnight bus should have a toilet (STUPID!!). No toilets of course in India.. So when I asked where is the closest toilet? The driver opened his arms and said public toilets! In the dark, with Josh next to me, trying to find a "good" place ... read more

Mumbai to Goa by train is quit an experience! We decided to take the day train so we could see more of India! At 7 o'clock in the morning we started on our 13 hour train ride! Josh hasn't seen so many people pooing in an hour in the train then in his whole life! Hahahahaha! Same for me too. They all sit on the unused railtrack and use it as a toilet! Not good still waking up! Also, we still have to get used to the little scams of India. Josh got himself a nice cheap bottle of whiskey on the train... They asked us if we wanted a beer!! And after like 8 hours in the train we would love to have a cold beverage. But unfortunatly they didn't have beers and they offered ... read more

Arriving on the 4th of October 2010 at 10.30am local time Mumbai we step outside of the airport and it hits us! We are in Mumbai, India! We heard on the plane it would be 29 degrees, but we heard it wrong... More likely it was 39 degrees!! Hot hot hot! We straight got into the choas by taking a taxi from the airport to our hostel! They love their horns and they don't give a shit about lanes! 3 lanes make it into 6 lanes! Both really quiet in the back of the taxi.. Letting it soak in! Be stunned by it all! Our 2nd day we went for a boat trip to Elephanta Island to see one of the temples of Shiva! Again hot hot hot!! We defently have to get more fit! Those ... read more
