Your Fantastic Trip Hi Mike:
We met in Dawson at the campground where the four of us were staying. Wendy and I really enjoyed visiting with you. When I got home, I was able to find your blog and read about your amazing adventure. I am sorry the bike repairs just didn't work out the way you wanted them to do.
Your bike trip really is an accomplishment. It might have taken a different turn at the end, but you saw a huge amount of beautiful country and met some great people. Your trip is an inspiration to me and I hope one day to do even a fraction of what you have achieved. I think about your journey when I am out riding on my motorcycle.
Our trip ended well. We saw Inuvik/Tuktoyaktuk, Norman Well, and Yellowknife and then flew back home. Our luck held and we had good weather the whole time.
It was a pleasure to have met you. Well done!!!
Regards,
Janine
Conflagrations Howdy Mike,
This is the first time I checked out your blog and man what an adventure. Probably not exactly what you had in mind but none the less it will make for some good memories. Thats really a bummer bout the sale of the bike. I would have thought it would come through fine seeing as how it was a red one. Anybody who rides a KLR knows that they are the best/fastest. So when ya comming back? Ya gonna give up on KLR's or ? Carry on my friend the "son" is shining behind the clouds! Jeffer
hey mikey! sorry to see that things didn´t work out for you, but at least you got to spend some time exploring alaska, right? and the emmert´s sound awesome, so you´re not stuck at some cheap motel or anything. also, look on the bright side: you get to spend more time with ME now!! :) maybe that´s not a bright side, we´ll find out. take care and safe travels!
Should have kept the Honda CBR? Wow,what an adventure, huh Mike! I was quite excited for you for your trip; but it looks like Murphy came along and stayed! I couldn't help but compare your seemingly effortless (mechanically) trip last summer and this Alaska jaunt. If you played golf I would say you deserve a Mulligan (if you don't play the game, its a do over)
but knowing you, you are already counting the good things that happened and stating all in all not a bad outing. And it it a heck of a lot better than the work a day routine. the rest of us are in.
Thanks for sharing your trek with me even though I cringed with each new mechanical challenge....

You can do it!!! Come on mike that bike has to get you home!!! Nice work on getting all the way to the top, Im really sorry to hear about tweeter giving up on you. I hope everything works out.
I just got home today with everything intack.
ah, mikey i´m so sorry to hear about all of your mishaps during your trip! i am glad, however, that you at least made it up there to see how beautiful alaska is, and to meet awesome people who are hosting you. i will be thinking of you, keep us all updated!
Still love riding along with you! My prayer is that your eyes and ears will be open for those "divine appointments" that God surely has lined up for you! As always, chocolate chip cookies anytime you are my the neighborhood. Loving you!
pictures That is awesome Mike---both a picture of a post office and of a Nebraska license plate. I will surely sleep well tonight--maybe even dream a little.
hey! mike,
it was great to get an update, keep them coming whenever you can (though i understand not wanting to spend all your time writing). i hope you are taking tons of pictures so we can swap all kinds of fun traveling stories when i get back! stay safe, don´t crash, and make sure to meet lots of cool people!
love,
trish
Man, I love donuts, but at midnight? That would be tough. Early morning, though, I'd do. Thanks so much for writing your travels and thoughts, Mike. Love it. :)
oh, man... good group of folks right there. I better see all of 'em at our 5 year reunion/ Hesston's centennial anniversary! Late September '09. Oh yeah! Be looking for a facebook group!
me jealous of your trip, lucky dog.
Thanks for letting me "ride along" on your incredible journey! When you are in my neighborhood, stop in for a big hug and warm chocolate chip cookies. Loving you!!
www.blackhillstravelblog.com The Black Hills are infamous for their great biking roads. No wonder 500,000 bikers show up in August every year. Great blog but better photos!
blog writings Mike
After being too busy driving tractor for 4 days I finally caught up on all your travels. Very interesting writings and pictures. I especially like the self-photo cruising at 60 mph. Looking at the Mt. Rushmore photos I noticed some of those guys had pretty big noses. (Maybe they are related to the Hershbergers!!) Hope your trip continues to go well and I pray for your safety every day as I cruise thru the alfalfa field in the john deere at 5.3 mph. Take care Dad
