Well hello again! I'm still chilling in Melbourne, Nina has departed and gone to Adelaide for the weekend to see her cousin, leaving me all alone to fend for myself :'( Not all bad though - today I had a lovely little wander around St Kilda and treated myself to a massage :D Shortly after posting my last blog I stumbled upon a job for myself, setting out and clearing away breakfast each morning in the hostel where I am staying with the benefit of free breakfast and free accommodation, yay! The only challenge is getting up at half past 7 each morning, especially after a night in the bar. But its going good so far and I'm enjoying the opportunity to chat to people over breakfast and find out what they've been doing, so I ... read more

Hello! I made it to Melbourne! Wierd to think I'm on totally the opposite side of the globe. I now see what people mean about Melbourne being much like an English city. I feel very at home here and not very far away at all. I'm staying at a very happening hostel in St Kilda, with some great roommates and a bar just downstairs, where I have spent pretty much every evening so far. The only exception being Saturday night, when Nina and I went to her friend Jani's prison themed 25th birthday party. Prison themed because 25 years is a life sentence here. We all wore some very sexy orange overalls. Sunday was a lazy day spent watching aussie rules football on TV and various aussie comedy sketch shows. Gotta get to know the Australian ... read more

Only one day left in Hong Kong before I head to Australia - it seems to have flown by! I arrived on Saturday morning, after what I would call a night of short snoozes at opposed to any proper form of sleep. Planes really are not made for sleepng on. The trip on the train to where Kara lives was very straight forward...and also immaculately clean! Public transport here is spotless! Upon arrival in Mong Kok (the district where Kara lives) I was met with a shock - the heat (27degrees) and humidty were immense, I was surrounded by huge buildings and lots and lots of people milling around - there are a ridiculous number of people in Hong Kong! Friday afternoon was spent getting over the culture shock. Luckily Kara had pointed out the nearest ... read more

Well, its 2 days to go before I set off on my trip to Hong Kong and Australia. It has finally hit me that I am going to be away for rather a long time, and I am starting to get a little scared...but still pretty excited about my trip. My bag is pretty much packed, but I still have a couple more things to squeeze in, which will no doubt mean extracting a few non-essential things to leave behind too. I have set up this blog to track my journey as I travel about down under and to keep you all posted on my progress. I look forward to receiving your posts and comments too, so please keep in touch. For those of you I leave behind in the UK, I will miss you all ... read more
