I only have 8 hours or so left in Berlin... hopefully at least 6 of those will be sleep tonight! Its 11.15pm and if I sleep within the next 3 hours it will be the earliest I have slept since arriving in Germany! It will be a stuggle getting up before lunch tomorrow... (6am... that hour exists??) My goodness what a few weeks I have had. On one hand, it has gone so quickly... its all a blur. On the other, South Africa seems so long and far ago! And I feel like there was never a gap where I wasnt living life with Jess! I am sorry for my terrible commitment to this blog, but I thought I should write one before flying out to London tomorrow! It is my sixth and final week in South Africa! I can't believe it's nearly time to go! It doesn't seem like enough time has been spent with the friends I have made here, and the projects I have been working on. BUT I am more than excited to see my long lost friend Miss Jessica Irwin! OH MY GOODNESS. Just 2 and a half days untill our embrace! I can't remember where I left you in my last update, but this past week has gone so quickly! I went to a game reserve yesterday and saw some beautiful animals in the african landscape.. so amazing to see them so close. Beautiful. The landscape is just stunning, and I am so in awe of what God has created on this earth! Such diverstiy and creativity. I ... read more

Hello again from Durban! So I have finished my 3 weeks working with RidgeCity. I was sad to say goodbye to all the kids at Vullendella (the name of the children's home i was living at) and Eden (the care centre i was working at) I will also miss helping the ladies at the soup kitchen in marianridge! While at Eden, I was able to really take weight off the shoulders of the care centre runer, who looks after the 20 kids single handled, and loved getting to know the kids i stayed with at Vullendella… just helping them with their homework and life in general was such a blessing. I'll miss them as i formed great bonds with them, especially the older girls, but get to see them at church :) The house I am ... read more

Africa August 25th 2011

This is my 14th day in Durban and my first blog update! Sorry its been so long coming, I didnt realise how hard it would be to get time online! But hello from the African sun :) Its a beautiful Friday afternoon and I'll attempt to get you up to date with the happenings of my life! So I arrived here last Saturday night and went to the house I will be staying in for 3 weeks. It is a childrens home for 4 beautiful kids / teenagers, and 25 year old Colleen looks after them there. I have already grown to LOVE them and feel so part of this 'family'. There is a 2 year old girl, who is a rascal but a delight, her 16 year old mum, who turns 17 today actually! 10 ... read more
