Yes, I came to Borneo for this One of your best blogs for me Tab as I could hear your soul. A childhood dream coming alive, orangutans coming down from the trees and the orchestra of the wilderness at night in full song. Wonderful decision to sleep on the river in a boat...wonderful it was only three of you and the crew. Bliss in spades...simply wonderful.
Finally Borneo Hey Jasmine, great to hear your comments! Thanks.
Yeah, it was one of my childhood dream came true. There are others, not sure when I can.
Read my next blog. That will be the last one on Indonesia trip.
Borobudur & Prambanan Great to see you are visiting Java albeit brief glimpses of this fascinating island Tab. And if one's visit is brief, nothing better than to catch these jewels of SE Asia...Borobudur & Prambanan...as jewels they are.
Borobudur and Prambanan Hi Dave, Thank you for reading and your comment. Yes, I wanted to visit these temples, Oh Gosh, I don't even remember when, probably from my history days in the school. Indeed, they are the jewels of the island. I was curious, but at the end I was amazed to see the diversity that were well reflected in the temples.
Touching the shoulder of Buddha There was a legend that made Prambanan stand as nowadays , going to Yogyakarta always creates the feeling of being humble n witnessing historical time . Great pictures Tab :)
Touching the shoulder of Buddha It was indeed a great moment visiting the temples. Although it was brief, I am glad I did it. I call it a brief walk in the corridor of history. And it was peaceful...took away some of the travel stress. Thank you for reading and appreciating the photos, Jasmine!
So many temples so little time You are so right MJ....I feel a peacefulness, a calmness, away from the turbulent world that we live in.....serenity now, and forget the insanity. Thank you for reading and your comments. Means a lot to me.
Your beloved friend is coming to put comment Wow Tab.. It is a good writing, i love everything u wrote and it feels like reading a novel hahaha
Well, i think u need some correction in this writing:
1. My village is Batubulan instead of Batibulan
2. Club of sandwich in Bebek Joni Ubud? Do u mean Capcay sir?
Finally i can put my comment here, someone will be happy with this and i will wait to read the borneo part Tab :D
My dreaded friend has put a comment Ok, ok, thank you for the comment. Finally! Ok, I will correct Batubulan. And was it Capcay? I thought it was a club sandwich. Ok, I'll correct that too. I forgot to bring my BB; tonight. And yes, I have more to talk.
Komodo Dragons A great read and blog Tab. Sounds like there was no chance for that photo of you patting the dragon...pity that...the potential for a bit of red was high! Fantastic you achieved your quest. Sounds like your efforts to see Komodo dragons were well worth it. I've only seen a smaller species on Anak Krakatoa but the big ones are clearly the ones to aspire. Great stuff.
Komodo Dragons Hi Dave, thank you for your comment. You are right, tuly I was itching to touch it's tail, but the guide restrained me. In retrospect, perhaps it was not wise to do so. I sure was in no mood to spend the rest of my time in an Indonesia hospital fighting for life! I didn't realize that there are some in Ana Krakatoa! But yes, probably more numbers are in Komodo. And I truly enjoyed my effort...it's so close from Bali that I didn't want to miss the opportunity!
Bali That would have to be the most elaborate entrance to a cave I have ever seen, Tab. Is it elaborate inside as well or at all? You have used your short stay in Bali well. Looking forward to where you head next.
Elaborate cave entrance Thanks Dave for your comments. Yes, the cave entrance is marvelous. The stone carvings are done painstakingly, I must say. Inside cave was not elaborate, but not that cramped either and still the offerings to the Hindu Supreme trinity goes on there.
The odd one or two "Odd" is a numerical term for "one", one being an odd number while two is an even number...but I presume you know that Tab. In the event it is more an Aussie colloquial term, I make that clear as I do not wish to offend any of my Canadian friends like you (Canadians being the politest people in the world)! I once supposedly offended a USA born blogger with well wishes for a speedy recovery from a major health issue using a term that in Oz is quite innocuous but she ripped into me as if I had bitten her leg. Even though she obviously took my comment out of context, as I deal with words and turns of phrase and inference in my work, I setout this odd explanation for my comment on your blog. By the way, I took your turning the meaning of "odd' in your reply comment as an entertaining turn of phrase, but in the event it was not seen as that by you, I set out this missive. Enjoy your blogs, Tab!
The odd one or two Dave, I took the whole thing as an entertainment, never occurred to me as offensive. Initially, I couldn't figure it out from your comment what is all about! Thought, did I say anything bad? Then I realized, OMG, this is the matter! Hey, the blog world is fun, not for anything serious...And with you Dave, never ever think that I am offended. You are my first blog world friend and will remain as a friend. Of course you can joke with me whatever you want...I'm easy going, never get offended. If a friend cannot joke with another friend, what is the value of a friendship? Relax....I'm game with my Aussie friend!
Sky sports Pretty amazing stuff Tab. For someone who does not swim, it does not hold you back flying through the sky every which way and that. Nice to see you could get into some underwater stuff as well. I've never seen skyboarding before. All told it seems Bali is well prepared for more than many ways for you to spend your money. Probably why it is such a popular destination for Australians...and the odd Canadian or two!
Sky sports Dave, yeah, the sports were really cool! I braved the underwater stuff as Marry Jo Binkley persuaded me to take some water training after she read my blog what happened in Costa Rica. I took her advice. Yes, Bali has diversity of many kinds of sports, history and cultural attractions. That way I found it is different than Phuket. And Dollar goes a long way, so it is popular among many including one or two odd Canadians like me. Thanks for reading, Dave!
You are quite an adventure traveler...
Bob, may I say perhaps we gather strength from what we all do.....I still remember from your blog how much you walked with your injured feet....we live and learn, Thank you for your inspiration! I reckon you as a great traveler, and I have a lot to learn from your experience.
My father grew up amid the green hills of Assam in India. When I was a little boy, I went with him to see the vastness of nature, holding his hand. He is the one who instilled the love for nature in me; everything I love in nature today, I owe to him.
I have lived in Canada for many years now, but my love for nature and the outdoors is everlasting. Travelling and photography are my passions. Although I visit tourist areas, I rarely spend time there unless there are historic interests. I often travel off the beaten paths of jungles, mountains and rural areas. While travelling to such places... full info
