Your Story Amitabhada, went through your Blog and story. It was fantastic to read. I could understand who was Amitabhada and who was Mintuda. Nostalgic in every sense.
It was like opening a treasure box to see the photos of Mashima and Meshomoshai ! Will read it again to catch the finer details. Regards... Ashish
Your story Dear Ashish,
Thank you for taking time in reading the story. Yes, it made me nostalgic writing the story. It only seems yesterday. I am glad that you liked it. Perhaps Ma also would have like it if she would have been around.
I'm glad that you left a comment. Others can read it too.
Thanks again,
Amitabhada
Terrific! I'm so glad that you liked it. Also impressed to hear that your whole family read it. That's quite a thing for me. I feel honoured! Thanks a million!
Your tree of life A beautiful tribute to the trunk that kept you strong...the branches that wrapped you tight...the leaves that brushed and whispered...that you looked up to inspiring your soul...your father. You have done him proud Tab...his memory endures in your words. I hope you don't mind me thinking he was your Tree of Life.
Your tree of life Dave, I was astounded how nicely you summarized the spirit of my writing. It's needless to say that I appreciate you suggesting my father was the "Tree of Life"...indeed he has been and he will. I don't think I have enough words to describe beyond what you wrote so eloquently. Much appreciated, Dave! I knew I could expect such a high bar coming from you!
"Ashim could see the monsoon in her eyes..." ...and, as I read your story of affection and memories, I could see the monsoon in mine too.
I know, from having been 'adopted' into a family in India, how extremely strong the bond is between children and parents, aunties, uncles and cousins there. Indeed, it is so much stronger than among most families here in the West and it is one element of Indian life that I admire so much. Your heartfelt story illustrates that bond so well. I send you my condolences on the loss of someone so special in your life.
"Ashim could see the monsoon in her eyes..." Mike, I'm touched by your comments. Thanks a million! And you are so right in appreciating the 'human bondage'...indeed we are a closely boded family, like many others. I travel each year to India to share my moments, although short lived. My aunt runs a family magazine where we all contribute our writings. And rain or shine, we are always together!
I appreciate you sending the condolence. And thanks again, for reading and understanding the sentiment....much appreciated!
'I always did and I always will' Thank you for sharing such a beautiful and moving story about your dad, it sounds like he was an amazing father and person. Your story reminded me of that saying 'when one person is missing, the whole world seems empty'...
'I always did and I always will' Thanks Ren,
You are so right in saying "When one person is missing, the whole world seems empty". I felt exactly the same while waiting in the lounge for my connecting flight way back to Canada. Time is the best healer though. I then said "I'll get through". So I did, I guess. To me, he will always be bigger than life.
Your father opened your eyes to the world isn't it wonderful when someone has such an impact on who you have become? "Learn to dream and live your dream" Thank you for sharing this touching story. Thank you for sharing something so personal.
Your father opened your eyes to the world Thank you David and Mary Jo.
Yes, I have been fortunate that my father taught me how to dream!
Initially, I debated in my mind whether it would be appropriate to share the story here. But I was inspired by the last blog written by Bob (Home and away) and I thought, why not share such a beautiful feeling and relationship with others?
I'm glad that you like it!
A father's wisdom “Walk away from anything that does not interest you, but always enjoy doing what you want to do. My take on this is that you really need to stick with the swimming lessons because you certainly have the interest. Get a real teacher and try one more time. The water has so much to offer. Glad you survived. Glad your wife appeared. I had tears in my eyes reading about Tab and you are the luckiest man on earth to find that phone. Unbelievable!
A father's wisdom Hi David and Mary Jo,
Thank you so much for reading my blog and your comments. It means a lot to me. Like all writers, I feel accomplished when I could touch other's heart with my writing. It's gold!
You are absolutely right about my swimming lessons. Although I love mountains, jungles and rural areas, water has a large appeal to me, - swimming, snorkeling, scuba everything. It frustrates me when I see others are swimming and splashing water and I cannot. Yes, I have taken lesson three times, but I'll try again. I'll take up your advice and I will be selective about the trainer. I wouldn't give it up, I promise!
Yes, I was so lucky about my cell phone. But you know what! Last year I lost it in the Hong Kong airport when I was traveling. I left it on the trolley and forgot. When I realized, I took a train back from the Hong Kong island, returned to the airport and started searching all trolleys. But soon I realized, it's impossible! I was not lucky this time. I suppose luck favours a person once, twice, three times may be, but not every time. I hope I learnt my lesson. My wife doesn't like long distance traveling, otherwise she is very careful. I loose my glasses every other day and she points out that I am wearing it!!!
You only live once...or is it twice? Had me smiling throughout Tab. Leaving your host David who showed you what unconditional hospitality is all about...snorkeling when you can't swim determined not to miss out...reminiscing on the wisdom of your father. Sometimes an adrenalin junkie has to nearly drown once...then pull in another. Must be hard being a James Bond look-a-like...'cause You Only Live Twice!
You only live once...or is it twice? Hi Dave,
Thank you for your comment. You summarized it very well.
James Bond title didn’t cross my mind until I saw your comment. I wish, I could live twice though! I cannot possibly complete my journey in one lifetime!
David is special. I have been fortunate to find good friends all along my footsteps. I will write about them as I move along.
Yes, my father has influenced my life in many ways. There are some debts in life one cannot pay, one can acknowledge only. I will continue to acknowledge him in my journey of life!
Although it was a temporary setback, I haven’t given up hope to swim someday. I plan to take lessons again!
Sunglass video Great to see a sunglass video Tab. Great piece of equipment that you will be able to capture amazing memories as you embrace life's adventures. Thanks for sharing. I want one!
Sunglass video Hi Dave,
Thank you for your appreciation. I started inserting the video clips into my blogs, whenever they are available. This was one was your suggestion. Hope readers feel excited to see the clips like you do. One of my friends in India liked it last night. It's easy to get one of these...I bought this from a camera shop here...not that expensive either...but it is handy I must say.
Merry Jo has mentioned about you in one forum when she was responding to me. I told her that we interact often!

Connect with us... Tarun, I am currently engaged in writing travel blogs, articles and tour guides, professionally or otherwise, with few different enterprises. It's a lot of commitment and there is only so much time in a day after my normal work. Unless something is professionally rewarding, I am not currently considering new ventures. Suggest, stay connected, perhaps, we could discuss this at a later date when my workload comes down. Thanks for your offer though:)
Nice article Thank you for the accolade. Much appreciated!
Suggest, read some other blogs, especially the "multicultural mosaic....Bijagua"; You may enjoy;

My father grew up amid the green hills of Assam in India. When I was a little boy, I went with him to see the vastness of nature, holding his hand. He is the one who instilled the love for nature in me; everything I love in nature today, I owe to him.
I have lived in Canada for many years now, but my love for nature and the outdoors is everlasting. Travelling and photography are my passions. Although I visit tourist areas, I rarely spend time there unless there are historic interests. I often travel off the beaten paths of jungles, mountains and rural areas. While travelling to such places... full info
